I have called and emailed about 6 companies in the last few weeks, as I stated to get costs for delivery and customs clearance. The best was £95 for delivery and £45 for clearance and the worst was £295 for delivery!!!! and £65 for clearance. They also wanted to charge me £20 to get the pseudo number which you can do for free. Therefore the quote from Bronel is ok in comparison.
The order is 32 cartons, 750 kgs, 3.9cbm (a medium sized transit van capacity is 4cbm) and 1.5 hours drive away so in terms of hiring a van, petrol and loading etc, it works out just as cost effective to get it delivered for £100 without all the hassle of trying to collect and load and drive the goods myself or my partner, and only if he is not working, which may not be the case. Then if something goes wrong you end up paying loads for storage at the port so can end up costing more.
As you said greedyboy once it has been done once then I will look at the whole process and know all the charges involved, as other companies do not mention all the other costs I will still have to pay these if I transfer the clearance and delivery to them and save a few pounds only.
Yeah, it's all the extra charges that have amounted to £412 which I hadn't taken into account, but still ok in terms of pricing and good to know for the second time.
Many thanks.
