My guess is it's just like anything else. If you can perform your due diligence you'll have better luck than most. I'd be interested to hear what type of payment arrangements you used in dealing with Chinese suppliers.

I have several OEM products I'd like to have made but after being burned twice by Chinese suppliers I'm very wary. I was even burned by an established US supplier - it seems there are more and more criminals setting up "shop" these days.

I've decided to seek out Chinese friends and establish relationships, it's my understanding that most every Chinese person has some sort of connection and knows reputable suppliers. I'm also looking into supply verification resources - who knows? I may yet establish global trade but it won't be based on faith and a western union money transfer next time.
