You could turn that around and say the wardrobe cost you £30k, it doesn't mean it is worth £30k, might only really be worth £100.
Value is in the eye of the beholder, for what it's worth I agree with you attitude of buying the real thing, a fake Ferrari will always be a fake Ferrari, no matter how cheap it is.
