Default Advice

After looking over many posts on the forum i want to offer this advice.

1. Business is all about relationships. Relationships with suppliers, and equally customers. Just that you know a supplier, doesnt mean you will make a fortune.

2. So many members have a post count of 1. There only post is one that says something like "Can anyone give me a supplier who sells ......." . Do you think if someone had an amazing supplier, they would disclose it to some random. This links with point 1. If you are a regular poster, who offers advice to others, you are more likely to get help when needed. Simple as.

3. The forum is a open discussion group. I get about 5 Pms per day asking me for all the best suppliers. Just that i run the forum, doesnt mean i have the 'great book' of suppliers. If you are just going to pm individuals, whats the point in a discussion forum. From now on, i will not answer simple "Give me a supplier" private message. Kind of ruins the whole format of the 'community' in my opinion.

4. Quite an important one in my opinion. Many people come along saying " i have ditched my job and i am going to sell 'x' on ebay
(usually Phones, Ipods, DVDs etc). From own personal experience, you cannot simply decide what to sell based on nothing. You need to put in graft, see what there is a market for, do your research. It cant all be on a plate for you. Dont you think everyone would be doing if it were easy? You need to sell what can make you a profit and their is a demand for, not what you have an interest in (though it does help). You cant be picky.

5. Their is life outside of eBay. Websites, forums, ebid etc. All places to sell items. The fact is, eBay is one of the hardest places to make any profit on many products. This is due to everyone having the opportunity to sell on a level playing field. The odds are, in many occasions, you are not going to make big money without buying stock and investing. Even then, it is hard.

I think thats about it. Just felt like typing a few bits and bobs that were annoying me that may come as useful advice. Then again, it may be rubbish, but at least i got it off my chest! Yellow_Fl:

Feel free to add to it if you like!

ps. this wasnt targetted at anyone in particular.
