Thumbs up Google adsense and Google adwords: Which one better

I have been leraning to know more about google adsense and google adwords

In term of promotion to get traffic which one is better?
If we have signed up one of them, so signed up another one would it waste money or would it be a good investment?

For promoting your site to gain traffic then it is google adwords. You select certain keywords and description that is relevant to your site in a bid to attract the customer.

Adsense is different. What happens there is that businesses pay google to display their ads via adsense. If you look through this site you should spot google ads throughout.

So the former for promotion and the latter for revenue.

Think carefully about how you use them. I'd say the basic rule of thumb would be use Adwords to attract customers in the beginning but work on your sites S.E.O to attract visitors in the long term.
Think about not using adsense on your site if you are planning to use it to sell. Displaying ads on a site setup for selling not only in my opinion makes it look tacky but what is the point of driving customers away when you are trying to get them to peruse your site and most importantly purchase an item from yourselves.

Do NOT use Google's content network should you choose to advertise via Adwords.

You will destroy your Adwords account by lowering your CTR.

If you need more info on this, PM me.

If done properly, Adwords can also be a very cheap way to advertise. It all depends on how much you know about running a PPC campaign.

Good SEO alone can outrun adwords by miles. I know a company that only gained 20% of what they put into adwords so they scrapped it put all efforts into SEO and now their site is first page / number one spot on the majority of words relating to thier product.

It can be very time consuming but the benefits are worth it

One of the easiest ways of developing traffic is via forums, join a related forum and participate properly (dont just join and post/spam your site). When it is relevant/allowed promote your services in the appropriate channels and you will See traffic spikes which if your offer is right will lock people into your site..

One of the best for this if you are offering real value/clearance compared to other is moneysavingexpert.com, I managed over 2000 additional uniques in 5 days for a phone I was retailing to clear at over 30% less than most people on Ebay (I was trialling the traffic options on a supplier driven promotion). Not only did I sell them all, with 80% of orders coming from MSE but my mailing list grew by 1805 people that I can now mail whenever a good deal comes along and they will promote it for me on all the MSE type sites that they are active on

Ongoing viral traffic...
