Default Using Google AdSense

Hi to everyone. I'm trying to learn more about google adsense, and I'd like to give you an example of a friend of mine who used google adsense on his site that displays comics its: http://sambeatty1.googlepages.com/

He added google adsense to the site, and got a large collection of his contacts to regularly click on the google ads. He was earning about $1 per click and was earning a fair amount each day from this. Also there showed no decline in the amount he achieved per click, even though he had mostly the same pool of individuals clicking on the ads each day.

He then accidently click on one of the ads himself, purely by accident. Google then contacted him and said by clicking on the ad himself he trying to exploit there system, and they canceled his adsense account and denied him the $US100+ on his account.

Two things surprised me about this situation. Firstly that he was able to get the same pool of individuals to regularly click on his ads without any decline in the amount he achieved per click (over a period of about one month). And the other surprise is that google cancelled his account straight away because of his accidental click, and refused to talk to him. I would have though this would happen to other people and google would understand this accident can easily occur?

I would appreciate all replies and discussions about this thread, thank you.

From the Google AdSense Program policies;

Quote:
Clicks on Google ads must result from genuine user interest. Any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions on your Google ads is strictly prohibited. These prohibited methods include but are not limited to repeated manual clicks or impressions, using robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software. Please note that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited. Failure to comply with this policy may lead to your account being disabled.
Says it all really, doesn't it?

If he "got" his friends to click on the ads, then it was clickfraud. They probably suspected this for a while and then caught him when he clicked on it himself. They were looking for a reason, and he gave it to them.

One click on your own ad will NOT lead to account termination, the repeated clicking by his friends WILL have done as IP's are tracked (even the AdSense management programs you can get track IP's so Google are miles ahead there)...

Plus what you are suggesting is illegal, immoral and put bluntly if you need to implement AdSense in this manner then give up and go away as you will never make any money from it....

Yes I would not be using this adsense in this way msyelf. Yes it would make sense that google would cancel the account due to the click fraud.

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to know what the average hits to click through rate is using google adsense? I have heard its about 2-3%. So that if you get 1000 hits each day you would get about 20-30 adsense clicks, does this seem accurate?

It is against Googles TOS service to discuss CTR etc, please read their terms of service. CTR is very dependent on the site itself I would add..

The best revenues a small retail or wholesale business can generate are from direct sales. You are deflecting concentration on your main objective.
