I think I had this problem with a windows based server.

Remember that register_globals is not needed for php 5+. Check to see what your server uses.

Also the latest version of OSC. which is RC1, does not require the fix either.

If on the other hand if you use fantastico then im afraid your using the older ms2.2 version which does.
I would suggest uploading the latest version and installing that for the security fixes it brings and added features.

Yes, the fantastico versions do sometimes lag behind what is available via download. I offer a free install of the cart of their choice to my hosting clients and always do it "by hand" with the latest version download, rather than fantastico.

In some cases it's no big deal. Right now the CubeCart difference is some language files, nothing to do with the actual program. OSC there is a major difference.
