Wholesale Option on Website
Hope this is the right place
Any way, im trying to set up a website, probably using either ZenCart, CubeCart or osCommerce Cart but I would like a wholesale section as well.
Now I know all the cart systems ive mentioned are similar in terms of registering details, buying and then payment options, but what I would like is be able to have some one registered for buying i.e the retail price items for retail purposes but also allow wholesalers to join. Now I dont mind applying the process of whereby you sign up as an ordinary user and then fill out a form that is provided either by email or on the site directly and then it is considered for Wholesale, but is there an option on either of the carts which enables you to change the viewing permissions of users so they can see wholesale prices/sections?
for example a user has their wholesale application approved, then is it at all possible to change their viewing permission so they can view wholesale prices when they click on a product?
Also, is it possible to have a Wholesale section on the site which only wholesale members can access.
Any help would be great
Regards
Abdul

This is possible, but not out of the box. You will need some mods (CubeCart) or contributions (OSC) to make it happen.
For CubeCart free version, you can have a mod for $ 20 that will allow you to have any number of price classes. Retail, Wholesale, Brother-in-Law (higher than retail), Distributor, etc. You can also have quantity discounts off of those prices.
NOT a fixed discount or percentage off retail. Each item will need the exact price for each level entered, you can't just say all wholesale is 40% off retail, each item must be priced at each level individually.
There may be other mods, I just did a quick check. The guy who writes it is a well respected modder for CC and I feel confident it will work as advertised.
As far as a seperate wholesale section, that might take some doing. When you get serious it can be checked further.
Or, you can look for yourself on the forums for each of the carts you mention. All of the mod information is available.
And, anything is possible, if you have deep enough pockets.

There are quite a few cubecart mods which will do what you want. The we use we can set up any number of trade customer account variations and assign a price to each account for each product.
For instance you can have the following catagories:
Reseller
Dropshipper
Trade Buyer
Independent retailer
Multiple retailer
etc
etc
etc
You can assign a customer account which discount level you want. Then when they login they will see their pricing automatically and order as usual.

There is also CRE Loaded which is based of oscommerce. They have the B2B version which allows you to setup different pricing groups.

Cre-loaded is just oscommerce preloaded with contributions.
cre-loaded B2B is again along the same lines. Whilst this may make sense for those not willing to change some php code it really isnt worth the money if you can get a hold of the contributions you may feel you need and install them yourself.
Cubecart is good for this although i must admit i am really disappointed in their latest carnation.
Osc and Cubecart 3 will serve you well but with packages such as actinic and ekmpowershop etc, for the money it maybe worthwhile looking at the paid for carts aswell

No, you misunderstood.
The current OSC is the same for some time. And CREloaded used to be free, but now costs.
There is a new for sale version of CC, CC v4 which is less than spectacular, as many new issues are. But the tried and true free v3 is the best thing going, I believe.
I'd never suggest paying for a cart when the free ones are so good.
