Reccomend a good ecommerce sight anybody ??
Hi all
I guess I'm what everybody calls a newbie, this is my first post.
Can anybody reccomend a good ecommerce sight builder. One where you pay a flat monthly fee and is UK based. I'm at the "seriously thinking about it stage" but need some expert advice from somebody who's been there and done that.
Cheers... Stuart

Hi Stuart!
Is there any specific reason why you want UK based service?

NO, I'm not in the UK, altugh I have many clients there.
The truth is that even "UK companies" like 1and1 use servers elsewhere.
And I have a secondary source I use which is in the UK, but their servers are in Chicago.
So, how UK is UK? Not picking on the UK, this sort of thing is true everywhere.
If you are asking about what is called a "site builder" online software package that steps you through putting together your won site, I do not offer that. What I supply is a typical Control Panel type hosting account where you can control your own server space.
I also do a free install of either CubeCart, OSCommerce or ZenCart shopping cart software. No more, just the bare install, then it is up to you to load items, etc.
I will do some additional chores for a small fee and I do offer handholding at no cost. More than anything else, I help people get on their way, but I don't do it for them.

Hi andy...
Guess I wanted uk based for customer support, ie.. if I needed to ring them they'd understand my yorkshire accent and they'd be operating in the same time zone so I wouldn't need to get up at 2am to phone somebody in Idaho or somewhere like that. These are only minor concerns so guess I could overlook them for the right service.

You will find very little telephone support. Most are email or submit a ticket at their helpdesk. And your Yorkshire accent is nothing compared to many of the "contract third country support center" accents you will have to deal with.
90% of my help is email, some will call a time or two, but it's basically email.
And, as several here have mentioned, I never sleep.

100% Agree with Pete! This has never been a problem for me (take in mind that I'm not even a native English speaker :-) Most of the times, support is handled via ticket system, so it really doesn't matter where are you based. In fact - dealing with a US company can be even more practical - if you mostly spend your time on your business @ evenings, your tickets will be responded probably the same day (night for you), while UK business are usually closed and you'll get your attention only next day.

What I'm looking for is what Pete called a "sight builder". The service that Pete offers whilst I'm sure is excellent sounds a little over my technical abilities. I want something that I could hit the ground running with and is easy to set up. All this talk about "servers" and "hosting" is I'm ashamed to say over my head at the moment. So if somebody could recommend a good sight builder it would be very much appreciated. Failing that, a comprehensive guide to building your own sight maybe utilizing Pete's service could also be very useful.
Thanks... Stuart

you mean 'site builder', dont you?
The best thing to do is organise everything your self and learn how it all works - Pete does come highly recomemnded on this forum.
You can go www.testacart.com to see the more popular 'free' carts.
