"You scored a total of 38 points out of a possible 40 for this keyword"

Seems like I'm doing good there

That's just for On Page factors which makes maybe 5% of your success in SEO game.

You better try "link:" function in google for your website or page

On page is "rumoured" (nobody but Google know the truth) to have increased dramatically in the new search algos (Google), the link: is a starting point ...my free ebay templates has 14 whereas position 5 has 297. Again they have some bigger bait than me to!!!

Links are so easy to mainpulate that there relevence is dropping, obviously they remain important in terms of the engines and traffic but the game has changed (as Mr Cutts alluded to in the recent UK SEO conference).

I am no expert but I recommend that all webmasters focus greatly onto on page and internal linking to increase serps and traffic, this has always worked for me and I see very little movement in positioning on the sites that do not fall into my test sites etc etc

There are no rumours - On Pages factors make less than 5% importance.

Off Page factors - the rest of it.

It's not HOW MANY links have pointed to your site BUT:

* The authority level of that site pointing to you;
* Relevancy;
* Anchor text;
* Keyword density;

If you'll only focus on On Page factors, you'll never achieve great SEO results for competitive keywords UNLESS your content is really cool, it gets viral and everyone is talking about you in news blogs, podcast, video sites etc.
