Welcome to Richard's forum. I am one of the semi-successful "gurus" who gives up some of his spare time to help people to start an independent business.

Many popular topics have been discussed here many times and Richard has taken the trouble to create a Frequently Asked Questions section which gives you links to the most interesting replies, which you'll find listed under appropriate headings.

Please take the time to read through the existing discussions. When you have read them all, please come back here and either state that you've found the information you need or be specific and tell us what information is missing.

Someone will then (hopefully) either give you an answer or point you towards an existing thread that gives the answer.

Here is the link to the FAQ section.

If you can't find your specific topic there, please use the forum search function. Set it to "30 days or older" for optimum results.

My main site is a little different to many on here in that we're not actually selling anything. Not at the moment anyway.

The bulk of our content is news, which is carried by Google, NewsNow, Yahoo and others. That helps us quite a lot, especially the NewsNow feed. For me, I don't think there are any "tips or tricks". It's down to dedication. As cliched as it sounds, you'll get back what you put in.

Assuming you've read through the archives as Martin requested, you should have a rough idea of the basic things you need to do to start driving traffic to your website. Personally I'd advise you make sure you've got the basics covered before you go any further. That means ensuring everything is right with your website before you expect people to 1) visit it, and more importantly, 2) return to it.

If you've done your research, you'll be aware of various tools and bits of software recommended and used by people on this forum to help you get more people visiting your website. Personally I recommend the 'Blogger Wizard' tool that you can get information on by clicking the link in my signature, but there are other good tools out there that will also give you great rewards.

fms Hello lets see if we can get you going. Without knowing some things. I'll give you a quick shot at what I did and still do, not as much, But I still do. When I started I started with literally nothing,in fact it was at the libary.
OK you can use usfreeads number 1 google love them. If you write your ad the right way google will pick it up and you'll be on the front page in 2 days at the most two weeks. cost to you "ZERO" I might add here that the ads are free, but it is better to become a member that is $9.99 per month. It is worth every penny.
Use the title of your web page as your ad heading keep everything revelant, you are allowed to put your link in the ad, you can use pictures most everything.
Works like a charm
Google also loves articles. Write an article about you site, product whatever, keep everything revelant. In the bio box is where you really hit the home run.
You might Ask have you Seen the Latest This will drop the belly fat in no time.
Keep everything revelant. Again google will pick it up or if it's good info a webmaster will pick it up and you'll see traffic. I know this is kinda shotgun but
if you need more info let me know. Some articles allow you to place links some don't. I'm not really sure how much experience you have, but again I'll help if you need it.

Hi fms,

I've put together some reports for people getting started.

You can grab them here: http://www.turntoandy.com/Andyinfo.htm

The first describes links and where/how to get them.

The second is an ebook about starting out online and the various ways you can go.

You should find those 2 useful..

Regards,

Andy

Hi! I've done very well writing articles relating to the products I'm promoting. I submit them to multiple article databases. In the signature line at the end of my articles, I include a link to my affiliate products. After reading the article, many people are inclined to click on the link to see what else I have to offer. It works pretty well if you provide the reader with useful information. All the best to you.

Hi,

I used to try so hard to get people all over the world to come to my site and it was so hard. I realised with the niches I worked in, I had more than enough people to see in my own area.

I ran a campaign before xmas in my own area and had over 800 email subscribers from the campaign, now as most are local people i just target local products with local people and it makes my life so much easier.

Hope that helps

Kevin

Kevin, I clicked on your link.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>

Our Money Saving Newsletter you can find Everything you need save money...[/b]
Do you realise this is not a sentence? Should it be "In" or "With our Money Saving Newsletter.."?

Also, the images are missing from the page.

You don't have a Privacy Policy. ("We won't give away your email addess etc.")

Hope this helps.
