Tom, like you I wandered in the darkness for years, a decade or more, I guess.
I wondered how anyone running Windows could not be satisfied with a companion MS product. It was like I was injected with a shot of Bill Gates' blood, or something.
Then I finally got convinced to give Firefox a try. It took a couple of days adjusting, but there are way more features and it is so much more secure.
Do yourself a favor, install FireFox and give yourself 3 days or a weekend or something like that to get used to it. No, it is not identical to IE, you will have to do things a bit differently, but it is well worth it in the long run.

Re: Which internet browser do you use?
Firefox all the way !!! just upgraded to the latest version and seems to be running great, Speed is awesome.
I too like Pete was on explorer and being in IT all my colleagues were using firefox. I was stuck in my old ways and after hearing about all the different plugins and tabs etc from my friends i finally gave in and tried it. Again like Pete it took me a couple of days to adjust but once i had i was so glad i made the move.
Its an awesome bit of kit and the add ins are endless, very handy too. The one thing i found a major change was the options when you used the right click, it gave different options then explorer which at first was annoying as i preferred the explorer options. Also i think a lot of websites are built using explorer so some pages dont open properly (very very small percentage) but then i found the add-on IE Tab. This lets you use firefox and for any reason that you would prefer to see that page in explorer then just click the button and the page opens up in explorer.
Other useful add-ons are:
Fast dial - gives a graphical page of favourites

Re: Which internet browser do you use?
Firefox & Safari.
Safari is a lot quicker..but a lot less safe.
Firefox is slower, but a lot more safe.
So I use whatever browser depending on what i'm doing.
