Default Facebook & Twitter as a marketing tool?

Has anyone set up a facebook or Twitter page/group to help build their brand or promote their business?

What are your thoughts on this? Does it drive traffic to your site? Does it really help build your brand? Do you get many "Fans" of your business? Or does it just p*** people off?

I really would be greatful for any help or advice on this.

Thanks in advance

It depends on your target market I guess; whether or not they're people who use Facebook and Twitter.

There's no harm in trying!

Do you think it's kinda cheesy? I just don't want to give the wrong impression.

I made a page on facebook although i've found that people on facebook willing accept 'unique' pages such as "if i get over 1 million hits, my girlfriend will let me turn our house into a pirate ship". I saw that one floating around last week, if you can make somthing like that, and get it relevant to your business I think it could work. Im trying to set somthing up without confusing the brand image/'not cheesy' lol.

Twitter is the best to use if you can keep up with posting on there. People will follow it for new stock or new releases and basically to see what you are upto.

Only thing is if you open an account then leave it dormant it could do more harm than good so if you commit make sure you keep them updated.

I have got a facebook page and a twitter account, not sure either has done me much good as of yet, though it's still early days.

I use YouTube, Twitter & FaceBook.

results - vary from niche to niche but in terms of ROI, YouTube is the best social platform to drive targeted traffic to your website.

twitter gets the vote for me, short and sweet updates, not time consuming and another marketing avenue, i think you just have to give it time to build up and always promote your social media avenues when ever you can, email sigs, listings, website etc.
you can also link your twitter with your facebook account, meaning, everytime you make a post on twitter it will also immediately appear on your facebook which is very handy.

May be a stupid question, but how would be the best way to use You Tube? Just create and upload a video with your web address on it?
