Bad luck there robbobb, and it shows just how Alibaba operate and even Gold member seems to mean little. I wonder if Trustpass is a better reference, but somehow I doubt it. One part I did note, which another member of this forum advised me on recently. The contact said oh yes we supply UK a lot, OK then ask for a reference, even two to check out. I would assume that if the supplier is above board, and in fact good at what they do they will be keen to have someone in the UK sing their praises. On the other hand if they body swerve ignore, offer excuses, time to leave I fear.

Well, following a buying lead i posted on alibaba, a supplier from ecuador based in the united states (ecuadorian rain forest) contacted me and offered me some herbal extracts at a more than low price. They offered to send me samples at their own expenses and they did.

i received the samples, they were cooking spices, but very professionally presented as the herbs with scientifical data. Basically, they were scammers from the USA, preying on the ones that dont know what these herbal extracts look like and want super cheap providers.

i say, be wary, EVEN if it comes from the so called safe countries (USA, Canada, europe, etc.)

hope it helps,

well, if you really want to try this transaction, i strongly suggest you take all the precautions necessary to check the stuff, and pay via an escrow service i.e. www.escrow.com).

this will allow you to review the goods before paying them. If the refuse the escrow payment mode, they probably are scammers....

Not really a question

Dont know them so cant answer

When I was in the UK I used local wholesalers and later imported small amounts from various places including Asia.
Because I was tired of being restricted to what UK importers wanted to sell me I went to Asia to find my own products.
I turned a number of my ex suppliers into my customers.
I had a number of design ideas made and sold them exclusively [for a short period of time...... everything gets copied if it sells]
I never scammed anyone. Complete order or cash refund of undelivered goods or replacement items if agreed.
If you want the best discounts you have to buy big and cut down the supply chain. Money talks and your buying power is your currency.

Not to buy ALL the brand products from the suppliers of alibaba.com. I waste some money to buy the fake N95 and after reporting to alibaba.com, she only advise me to report to the police and it is very easy to be a Gold Member in Alibaba.com.

The following was the e-mail feedback from the Alibaba service team:

Dear Mr. XXX,
Thanks for your email.
Please be reminded that our role is similar to a trade show organizer, in that we provide a meeting place for buyers and sellers, but do not get involved in individual transactions between our members or guarantee any trade. Alibaba.com buyers & advertisers take responsibility for the accuracy of the content they post on Alibaba.com. It is the responsibility of each Alibaba member to conduct due diligence on prospective business partners to their own level of satisfaction. The responsibility lies between transacting parties and not Alibaba.com.
In your case, you are advised to report the matter to your local police. If you are able to prove in court that the supplier engaged in fraud, we will suspend or terminate the supplier's account.
If you have any further question, please feel free to contact us.
