I demanded a refund, and received a cheque on Monday, which subsequently bounced. I have gone through the process of reporting to the Police etc, but at this stage there isn't much they are going to be able to do, as whilst 'Scott' keeps professing innocence, re-sending cheques etc, The Police cannot investigate it as a crime committed, rather a 'crime related incident'.

Can anyone confirm any other alias's that this person has used other than Scott? What really grates me is that the website is still up, and he's still conning people..

John, why are you so upbeat? The guys conning us out of thousands of pounds.. I just hope for his sake I don't find out where he lives..

There was nothing posted previously because he's ontly just set this site up.. he probably runs it for a course, then opens another one under a different name. I found nothing either when researching. I evemn had a 30 minute telephone conversation with him to gauge his credentials - he obviously convinced me.

It's scary how easy it is for these ba sterds to set up such operations and get away with it.. please all let me know developments. Thanks.

The best way to stop people like this, is warning others.
When people search in Google for 'Chinese Suppliers iPhone' etc, they'll be able to see threads here. If we can stop even one person getting scammed, it is a job well done.

You sound like a man with experience, what is the likely outcome? 12 month police investigation, then the guy probably disappears?

If any police investigation. All the red tape and international 'jurisdictions' would make it very difficult to A) Trace the person and B) Prosecute.
He'll close his site, setup a new one and continue doing what he does.

It makes my blood boil. We are earning an honest living - and people like this have the audacity to cheat others out of their money. I guess John does have a point, all we can hope for is that life turns around and bites him on the arse - sooner rather than later.

I've always found that cowboys end up scamming the wrong person, who has enough connections and will to give them a good hiding. (Not that it is recommended)
For example, there was a website a year or so ago selling iPhones when they first came out, stating they were based in the US. However, their WHOIS stated Manchester (where I live) and they ended up scamming someone who went round and certainly made sure they wouldn't be doing that again.
Made me feel all warm and good inside.

It'd be very difficult. The guys in Manchester left all their details over WHOIS, so they weren't the sharpest tools in the box.

Hopefully he'll flog a dodgy item to someone local to him and that person won't be happy.
