I'm all for encouraging young uns to do something with their lives rather than hanging around on street corners terrorising the locals but at the same time, esp after reading some threads on here, I feel that it might not be a bad idea to push more of a don't run before you can walk message over as, thanks to the internet IMO, it's become easier to pretend to be Richard Branson hiding behind a monitor.
Or am I just old and jaded?

You may not be old, but you're certainly wrong.
To begin with, read Anthony's response in regards to how Jake became an advertiser.
Your first sentence about 'young uns' immediately generalises an entire population of youths from a few reports in the media.
This is similar with when things go wrong in business. If he/she is young then it's 'Not sure if young people should own businesses'.
How about looking at individual cases. Jake, regardless of his age, stole money.
