Finding useful details on a website that you are unsure about...

A useful way to find details about a domain name (website) owner/registrant is to do a whois search on them.

What is a whois?

A whois website is a useful source that can be used to find information (usually address and admin details) about any website listed on the web.
All you need to do is put in the domain name into the whois finder and it will supply you the details of the website owner (or registrant), their address, email and phone numbers.

It is important to remember that this information can be used to adjudge whether a website is genuine or not...

I would always do a whois search on any new supplier that I might deal with on the web just to see if it matches with information provided on the site. If the details are different then maybe you should be thinking of why that is

Another thing to remember is that not every site can be searched and some of the sites quite justifiably don't want their details to be put on these sort of sites. It will tell you on the search whether the details have been chosen by the website owner/registrant not to be shown.

To find others simply type "whois" into your search engine.
