i am a wholesaler, and i really do not judge people in the way they communicate.

As someone said on the other post if mr hi m8 is a customer than he is more than welcome!

From the supplier point of view, it is not easy to satisfy everybody , and it is impossible... And mr hi m8 can be more easygoing than a mr. sir customer... Which in some cases can be a great advantage...

Hey I'm knew to all of this although that doesn't mean I'm not serious about it. To be 100% honest I haven't started getting into this business side of things at all yet. I find it intriguing and am reading and learning more and more about it everyday. To the point though, you were saying that meeting the supplier can give great advantages and build a good relationship. My problem is age... First impressions mean alot I'm young and I no this.. Should I stick to phone calls because I'm not sure I'd be taken seriously?? The obvious answer one would think is to avoid meeting them, I just don't want to put myself at a disadvantage.. This may sound stupid but thought I might as well ask and any feedback postive or negative would be great. Thankyou.

That's a great question and one that many young entrepreneurs face when sourcing products. You're right, you are unfortunately at a disadvantage when it comes to trading as if you're under 18, legally (at least here in the UK) you are a minor and therefore not eligible to take part in contractual agreements. Many still do, but usually at the risk of the other party involved.

Although the advice I have given is to meet suppliers, it's not absolutely necessary to build a relationship. You can use email, phone and so forth to establish that relationship and trade accordingly. Your age is a minor hurdle but only a problem if you make it a problem.

What is the industry you are thinking of going into? Does it require meeting the supplier face to face?

To be honest I'm not exactly sure what I'm goin to go for yet.. Trying to keep an open mind about the situation. This is fast becoming an obsession and the options seem limitless as long as you research and stay smart with what you do.. I'm 18 and I live in Australia.. It's legal here and I have an ABN (Australian Business Number) Although I feel I got it before I should have. For the moment im just saving. It's taking a while because I'm a first year apprentice lol. Thanks heaps for the feedback and the really fast response! Once I can start to break down the options and become more specific I'll be sure to ask a more specific question. Once again. Thank you

How do you make your meeting more professional if you have to contact them via email, an example is if you live in New Zealand and the company is in America. I usually don't do phone contact until I feel I know the company is legit and interested in me as a customer. Its my opinion and point of view. Any tips for a professional contact via email or phone please?

Thankyou.

I am trying to join a supplier by getting a trading account with them.

Do I have to be 18?
