My guess is it's just like anything else. If you can perform your due diligence you'll have better luck than most. I'd be interested to hear what type of payment arrangements you used in dealing with Chinese suppliers.

I have several OEM products I'd like to have made but after being burned twice by Chinese suppliers I'm very wary. I was even burned by an established US supplier - it seems there are more and more criminals setting up "shop" these days.

I've decided to seek out Chinese friends and establish relationships, it's my understanding that most every Chinese person has some sort of connection and knows reputable suppliers. I'm also looking into supply verification resources - who knows? I may yet establish global trade but it won't be based on faith and a western union money transfer next time.

Standard terms are either TT up front, TT £30% and the remainder by TT or LC when the goods are ready to ship.

Hey, Greedyboy,

New member here I got caught up on great info post of yours Chinese not all Scammers,
I'm USA Indiana worked in QA for mant years.
We purchased steel molds to produce plastic
parts many molds actually.
I'm no longer in the plastic industry. lol....

Their factories procedures are awesome ISO plus/production set up. Is great.. Too
bad can just go visit to find the great suppliers.

Could you help answer this one question?? I just now noticed your post and brave enough to ask
MY QUESTION?? and thank-you ahead..

Why do even the most respectable companies in China will not set up a paypal, visa, or some
online type of payment method?
When there are so many online payment methods available. I have offered to pay for receivers part
Of method..
The prepaid visa mastercards that are actually instant bank transfer of only
verified funds from ones account,
No credit involved. I have noticed a few that are expanding online payment.
Is government or something make it a bad decision for companies?

I really don't want to think this procedure is not understood ?
As of now all my posting for suppliers or items, I always specify Mastercard,Visa,Paypal any method other than
moneygram,, wire transfer not accepted> (Of course not quite worded like that)
Tell me I should keep these requirements? or help me understand if there is a reason.
Thanks for your time It is Greatly appreciated.
Respectfully
Kimberly USA

Very interesting article, however I have got a question. When the Chinese suppliers offer you a Nokia N95 8GB mobile phone for $350 swearing blind that it is a 100% Made in Finland and not a Chinese OEM can that be true? Has anyone here dealt with a Chinese supplier and can suggest one thats genuine and will not rip me off/send me fake goods? I would be very happy if anyone could suggest any to me. I am not trying to be negative but even in Dubai where we do not pay any taxes at all the electronics are not THAT cheap. An example can be the new HTC Diamond which retails here for 369GBP! I think it is 439GBP in the UK and is being launched on the 19th of June.

Many Chinese trading companies have never even SEEN an original Nokia to say the least. If they tell you they are selling original products they are possibly convinced of their own delusions. If you are buying phones from China they are either poorly refurbished (second hand parts stolen from the factories )OR outright copies.

Use common sense when buying from Chinese trading companies.
