OH, a long time to back this forum here. firstly still insterested in greddyboy's great post again...
Anyway, glad to here this voice that chinese are not all scammers, seems like a justice,haha... as a matter fact, in my opinion, it is not related to a nation, it is just by some one's moral quality, it can not be judged only by a nation,,,,there are both of kinds people and bad ones in every nation...
oh,and about the above talks about the N95 phone, i think, you can not buy an original phones from chinese by a very cheap price, i mean, too far from the market price. because china often has OEM or refunished ones, if they supply you authentic ones, how can they get their profit?
Anyway, glad to reply the first post by greedyboy and glad to meet each other here.

Really missing those good old days. Even local Chinese are easily scammed by those cheaters nowadays. The internet makes it a low cost way to scam people. It is easy to set up a online shop and run away after taking your money. They are doing the same with another new domain name when the older one banned because of scamming.

Thanks for the information! I especially liked the part about your friend producing some mouse + OEM Paint Software bundle and selling it to distributors, reminds me that i can learn something new everyday! Have you got an IM client such as MSN that I could perhaps contact you on for more information?

First, thank you for your good article. very intelligent analyse.

but the information "You still will find much higher quality electronics in Taiwan to this day, but China will offer a similar product cheaper" in your passage is partial uncorrect any more in my opinion. Maybe it was true 5-10 years ago. But nowadays, it's really different especially in some hi-tech fields.

im an engineer and worked for an international company for many years. now i start my own business . In Shanghai most of my friends are senior engineers and chiefs who are doing R&D(research and development) work or management for very famous global companies, such as Intel, microsoft, philips etc. and most of these kinds companies have set up research and development centre in Chinese mainland. So it can prove that we have good people and techonology now. We can produce many good quality and hi-tech products expect simple cheap productions. many chinese who have high education background and business experience have their own design house in integrated circuit(IC) field. They can provide good technology servie and development for customers, including chinese manufacturer and foreign customers. I familiar with that, because our company is doing a project according to an European customer's request. In fact, our techonogy and serviece is as good as European or American companies. but because we are in China and because the labor cost is more cheaper than thoese countries, so most people think we only produce cheap and unqualified things. That's not true.

I'd like to share some information for you. Because of some policy changes in China, many taiwan and foreign companies already moved their factories from Canton province(Shenzhen is there) to Yangzi river district(Shanghai is its centre and including Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province).Shanghai is a commercial and financial center. Most international companies' headquarters in China are here. So you can find many good manufaturers in its neighbour areas.

sorry to write so much. I just hope that people in other countries can open their mind to China. please don't just think chinese businessmen are scammers. I have to admit there are many scammers in China, and I hate them too. But there are a lot of scammers in any other countries too. Most of the chinese businessmen are the same with you.

Because of the language and cultural differences, we can't understand each other very well. But we should try, we should discuss, like the forum's slogan "connecting through discuss".

Tanks greedyboy's sharing again.

i have tried to look up some chinese companies or even middle men and most of what i find are fakes on the net
i always have to ask them if they are real or not. Sometimes they market them as real but they are fakes and you have to ask if they are fakes or not

it is very frustrating

That's true. I quite familiar with what you have met. i had ever bought some small stuffs on the net. i found that the quality was bad, not as he/she said. even the pictures of goods are fake. i feel very frustrated too.

so you should be careful enough. maybe you could check whether their information is real by many ways.
eg. you could ask him/her to call you and ask them details about their products and factory. and let them supply some certifications issued by chinese officials. and you could search the similar information by google or other searching engine to see if anyone has already dealed with them or been cheated. because it is very easy to advise on B2B now.
i think you should order small amount goods at the first deal, and use the safest payment such as L/C. otherwise, you will not only feel frustrated, but lose the faith to deal with chinese, and also lose many opportunities to open another big market.

Good luck
