Re: A Quick Guide To Selling Games/DVDs
In this case my advice would be BUY THEM. If Gamestation or HMV are selling a brand new game with a RRP of £39.99 for just £19.99 as a "Deal of the week" and the wholesale price is £34 inc VAT then buy some, wait until the game goes back up to £39.99 and then sell them for £30 each. I have lost count of the times that I have done this.
This is very good advice. Example I have a friend in this line of business, he wanted the new Tiger Woods 10 to sell Most places RRP £49 at one stage Gameplay was the cheapest at £37.99 the wholesale he uses wanted £32.99. He views Game website and notice it was on a special for the weekend with £20 off the RRP so only £29.99..he purchased a fair few and sold them in a week made a small profit but fo him that was great.
Have to say now it only £24.99 now it's been out a while and I would highly recommend it on the PS3.

Re: A Quick Guide To Selling Games/DVDs
Great little article, guys at Hotukdeals get so uptight about people using "their" site to do that but its what I mainly use it for. Have to say I often dont have the balls to purchase large quantities of deals of the week just on the off chance the price will stay low, but have regretted this on several occasions (zavvi were selling killzone 2 for £18 at one point when could of been resold for £25-30!)
What you said about trade ins is one of the reasons I wouldnt mind owning a shop....

Buying from retailers is never going to make you rich but its a great way to earn a few extra quid and build up your funds

Re: A Quick Guide To Selling Games/DVDs
Nice post, although i cant get my head around, your recorded delivery example, it doesn“t seem right somehow, about prefering to loose stock, than send it our recorded, let me read it again.

Re: A Quick Guide To Selling Games/DVDs
Its a matter of cost. Weighing up whether its going to be cheaper to send out each item recorded or replace lost stock.
My point being that if you send out 100 items a week (which I do quite frequently) sending them all first class will save me £75 per week. Sending them all out second class will save me about £90 per week (rarther than recorded)
In reality, regardless of what people may think, Royal mail is not that bad and a large majority of people are genuine buyers, so the amount of "lost" parcels are few and far between. Probably less than 1 per month on average.
This will obviously depend on what you are selling, but for me..... the system works.

Re: A Quick Guide To Selling Games/DVDs
Great article,
This echoes alot my thoughts, I have found quite alot of the time Amazon is better to sell items than Ebay. I personally feel Ebay now is beginning to be a victim of it's own success and becoming very greedy and chocking newbie sellers to the site with it's charges and rules (not how it started out), better stop the rant here cause I could be here all day . Very good point about postage as well. I send most things by first class and offer Recorded on most items, if it is a high value item I send by special delivery as you have the insurance cover. I have found 98% of buyers to be genuin. Do not forget if an item is lost by 1st or 2nd class post, you can claim up to £39 compensation from Royal Mail. It is a pain in the ass process but well worth it when the cheque comes through.
