Plenty do well with drop shipping....most of the products sold on walmart.com are drop shipped ;-) so small and big players can use drop shipping to their advantage. I mean look at buy.com they use a lot of the DH products for their site. If you use the same suppliers and offer a good service there is no reason that you cannot do as well.

Hi popnlock - I think people forget that the huge companies we all know have to buy their stock from somewhere. I regularly get sent small gift brochures this time of the year from some major retailers and I have noticed a lot of the products are identical to the ones I buy from my suppliers.

I want to be one of the big players too as I dont see why they should make all the money

I Only dropshipped with one company (Select) and only made few pounds, that was when i first started selling on eBay, but since then i stopped as most if not all charge too much and if your looking to dropship on eBay then think twice.

I then started to sell mobile phones on eBay as i was working for a mobile shop to get away from family business working 7 days! and did do very well thou my profit margin was very low due to new eBayer but then i found few suppliers who offered a good price long as i invest lot of money, so i came out with a plan and accepted that offer, since then i stopped working have few eBay account and only selling on eBay i make more money then i ever did working for a mobile shop and family business. So yes you can make a living but you have to be very active.

I have few supplier but everyday i come to this forum to find more suppliers and check the posts for better understanding, I have no GCSE's but know much more about business then few of my friends working as managers, and thats only by doing research and visiting forums, and something i always wanted to say, "Thank you" to everyone posting on this forum and all the mods and Admin.

Do you find that your poor English loses you sales? I confess that I am very reluctant to buy from anyone who uses poor grammar, spelling or punctuation. It seems to me that, if they can't be bothered to get that right, they probably can't be bothered to give good customer service.

I always found my item selling for a better price then most other people selling same item. I think people look at your feedback more then grammer.

I think you mean "than" (not "then") and "grammar". You see, it worries me that you can't even copy a word that I typed in my post. Surely this inability to copy means that you'll make mistakes in orders and you'll miscopy your customers' names and addresses? This suggests to me that people might buy once but not come back.

Mind you, the standard of English taught in most schools nowadays is so poor that people under 40 probably wouldn't notice if you spelt their name incorrectly!

Many sellers copy and paste my listing and I hope they do sell. I don’t look for spelling mistakes; punctuation etc, what is important to me is a person’s attitude.

I don’t know what has grammar got to do with customer service? I got 100% positive feedback, all customers satisfied and many complementing the customer service they have received.

I’m happy with that.

It's all about attention to small details and good communication. You might *think* it doesn't matter but you don't know how many potential bidders are avoiding your auctions simply because they see obvious mistakes. Feedback is from people who bid and win. You never get feedback from people who go away, disgusted, without bidding. You may be doing well but there's always scope for selling more and getting higher prices. You want as many bidders as possible.

When I started university, and went to open my first bank account, the girl at the counter wrote my name incorrectly. I pointed this out and she said "oh it doesn't matter!"

I could foresee a situation where she might decide to miss a zero off my account balance and say "£1000 instead of £10,000? Oh, it doesn't matter!"

I took my business to a different bank.

Oh, and you meant "complimenting" not "complementing". Both spellings are correct but the meaning is quite different. To "complement" means to add to or augment.

"The red rose complemented the scarlet ribbon in her hair."

GettingRicher, I daresay you are going to find yourself in an increasingly smaller circle of people with whom you are willing to trade.

And I think we can all do without your corrections and explanations.

I'll also end with a quote.

"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

I take it that you don't want suggestions for increasing your business and income?

That's not a problem for me. I'll go and share my wisdom with those who appreciate it.
