Default Dropshipping Advice.

Hi there,

I want to start a mid-size drop shipping business.

I am young and new to the concept, yes of course I know what it means but if you could give me some extras on how I order the products and the processes you would typically go through that would be great.

Also if you have any sort of leads of electronics e.g. game console and video games dropshippers I would be very happy.

If not even good places to find LEGITIMATE dropshippers would be a massive help, I emphasise the word legitimate here because I have heard there are a load of dropshipping scammers out there.

Thanks.

Firstly, you’re best to look at other products. From experience, I can confirm there are no real video game/ console dropshipper’s. That’s most probably due to the tight margins associated with the industry and it not being viable as a business.

The ordering process depends entirely on the dropshipper and the relationship you have with them. Every company has their own procedure, so it’s best to find a dropshipper and consult them about this.

You’ve not come to the right place if you expect people to dish out their sources, but I have only heard good things about Pete’s list – so that may be worth checking out!

Thanks for that.

I was having a look at your website (PT Games) and is everything you stock on the website.

I am not looking to make it a full blown business just yet.

Even if I profited only £1000 a month from this I would be laughing, because its all I need right now, I dont have any bills to pay, or a house to maintain.

The reason its so appealing is that I am not holding any of the stock at all, which makes sense because there is no storage here and thats for sure!

Thanks,
Will.

I no longer trade in the sector anymore. Unfortunately, due to the forum's downtime, the threads regarding this were lost. However, to cut a long story short, I decided to move on as the margins were so tight it was no longer feasible to carry on. It's not impossible to make money selling games, theres just far easier ways.

If storage is an issue, then why not look for some smaller products? Which you can use to build your business up. Then, once its reached a certain point look for some kind of storage (a warehouse is not your only option!). As you can quite easily buy items for 50p and sell them for £5. Imagine 50 different products all with the same returns...

Why do you need a perfect product? You just need to think outside the box, its easy to say "Oh, I'll sell an iPhone". But what about items you don't necessarily think about, but rely on day in day out? These areas are far more profitable, as everybody else (like you) runs straight off to the iPhones, consoles, mobile phones, and so on without giving anything else a second thought. Hence many don't get very far...

Business is far from easy and taking what seems like the easy path will get you nowhere!

Right ok, so you suggest items that people may rely on, or need for every day use.

I was thinking of this, but the competition is massive in these areas, I know that I shouldnt shy away from competition, but its there nonetheless.

Thanks.

Finding a niche in a market is how you make money. I doubt any of us will tell you what to go for otherwise we'd go for that ourselves!

Careful planning and efficient reasearch is essesntial to any new business if they are to survive past the first month. However, you have to do this for yourself i'm afraid!

I wont recommend you using dropshippers. Some of the items offer by dropshippers are higher than the price on eBay. Why is this so? Most dropshippers are middlemen. They charge you higher than the manufacturer price claiming that it is for the processing fees and the packaging. As for those successful ebay sellers, the have the money to buy the items in a big bulk to get it for a low price. If you are trying get into selling game console, i bet you will give up within a short period.

Why?

Dropshipper = higher price = higher listing price = unable to compete with the powersellers = item not sold = ebay fees will eat you up = close shop

Start small

We have a great niche product which we're selling 30 a day. Unlike many other sellers, we'll tell you our niche, as we also wholesale them. You can sell them on ebay for £10+ and there is minimal investment.

We can supply these for as little as £3 a piece. With Paypal fees/ebay fees that's still about £7 profit on each!

These products are called iTrip and so far they've performed best out of our entire product line.

Drop us a pm if you're interested, we have one of the best if not the best supplier of these.
