Default Advice Needed: New site

Hi all,

Just some advice needed from anyone interested. I am thinking of creating a totally free directory with all the dropshipping and wholesale information I have found (or reluctantly paid for) over the years.

I am doing this since I believe there should be no barriers to entry for trade, and therefore people should be able to find out possible trading companies without having to pay people who aren't necesserily affiliated with the companies they give away.

Would a website as such interest you? Would people be likely to visit it?

Thanks for your time!

You would be at least the 10th or 12 person I've known to attempt it. Most give up after about 90 days, with little traffic and not many entries. It's got to be a labor of love, but even then, the time required would be months, maybe years. There are just too many.

The membership site I promote has 20 or 30 Thousand listed.

Good luck.

Hi there,

I would say that I would be very careful about buying a list. I would worry that the person who was creating the list was more worried about making a big list rather than a good list or only list supplier that give them kick backs. But if I am honest that is only me be really careful. Good luck with it though.

Doug

I agree 100% wholeheartedly. Some days you are motivated some days you simply aren't. And don't expect all the wholesalers to come listing in your directory. Most won't even know that your directory exist. If you would like to have a lot of entries, you would have to manually insert all your suppliers in your directory which can be really time consuming. And then there's the traffic. What's the point of having a great list of suppliers if no one knows about it? Hence a big chunk of your time would have to be spent on SEO and traffic building or else all your time consuming effort adding your list of suppliers will be for naught.

And yeah I am talking from my own experience . Enjoyed doing it though
