I'm having a stupid moment, what would a drop ship agent be, would they stock the goods and do the drop shipping or would they get the orders to be dropshiped?

On the site i was on it says, "Are you interested in becoming a Drop Ship Agent"

You have to fill in an enquiry form.

Sorry just having a moment,lol.

A dropship agent is someone who sells their goods for them and they will send them to your customers.

dropshippers store all the produces in there warehouse, and pack and send all the products for you, there are draw backs to dropshippers and that is slower delievery and higher cost. your better off doing your own sourcing and stocking, packing and sending your own products.

P.S. Cut out the middle man "Dropshippers"! there are some wholesalers distributors that will drop ship for you, good luck finding one they really don't like doing that...

That's not necessarily true.

When using a dropshipper, even paying a bit more, you are still paying only once for shipping - from them to your customer. When you buy and stock you end up paying shipping a second time. I don't know how it is for you, but inbound shipping for me runs from 10 to over 30%. So if I pay 10% or so more, I'm still even in "landed cost", which is what it really costs to have something on the shelf.

Plus, I do have something on the shelf. Something that might get dirty and shopworn, just sitting there. Something that I ordered in a moment of weakness and may never sell. So, what it the cost to that? And how much money do I have tied up in stock, that I could be using for something else if I were using a dropshipper.

Also, what about my time processing orders. When dropshipping I either email or go to the dropshipper's site and place an order. If I'm keeping my own stock I've got to find or buy packing materials, take the time to properly package and label the order and either take it for shipment of arrange for pickup, often at a cost.

Other than one manufacturer who does specil order production for me, all dropshippers I've ever used ship by the second day. I don't see how that is going to slow things down too much. Right now, my main source ships the same day if I order by noon or so and I have it on the third day if ordering for myself or my customers receive as quickly or a day or two later, as the US is a bit larger than the UK.

No experience, or a bad experience with a bad dropshipper should not mean they are all bad, that it is a poor business model. It's a great way to business, sitting in your home, making money (and friends) dealing with other people around the country or the world.
