I've been away for a while (I got married), much to my surprise when I got back a number of the paid advertisers (some with very good reputation) have thrown a wobbler!

ISY was perhaps the most sought after dropshipper, yet even they're having problems. Having said that are there any premium dropshippers left that seem to be doing well? I'm aware of the free to join dropshippers here, and they are great (HH, Pete etc.), but making next to nothing in profit does not sound very appealing to myself, although if you have little or no outlay they are great.

If you have money to invest in goods why are you even bothering with dropshipping?

I can't speak for Ian, but I'm sure he has a number of sellers doing quite well with what he offers. I know I do.

I wouldn't have the same people back day after day with 3 to 10 or 12 orders each if they weren't making some money at it.

And the reason the type guys you are asking about are gone is they had a plan that was not feasible. Membership fees kept going down, products were never the variety promised, just not a workable business model to begin with.

There have been several threads on this, how someone with no experience dreams up a deal, only to end up going bust, often owing those who trusted them.

Then there are those of us who do not promise pie in the sky, just wholesale prices with dropshipping available, who you can depend on to keep on sending the goods out daily, as advertised.

Have to agree with Pete (as usual - its a common occurence). Hardwareheroes has truly NEVER been busier. Its not down to new members joining and swelling the numbers, although that constant refresh does make a difference. No, there are a good number of customers who order in excess of 5 items every day of the week and a smaller number who do in excess of ten orders per day. I think many of them have their own websites rather than relying on ebay and amazon etc. It is always going to be difficult to appeal to that market when there are traders on ebay who buy in bulk the same as we do, and certainly in a few cases, buy in even larger amounts.

One thing I do have to say (for my part anyway - can't speak for anyone else) is that heroes is a young business with approximately a £20K investment in stock at any given time, either on the virtual shelf or in transit from China.

The margins I have set not only allow me to provide an excellent service to the clients such as yourself but, also to increase the product lines gradually every month. There hasn't been a month gone by without heroes adding a new product line or two which, in itself, represents a significant investment.

Small margins are fine for a short while but there are not many businesses who can survive by cutting their throats every day. I am building for the future and hopefully you can come along for the ride - the bigger my business gets, the more discounts I will earn from suppliers and the less cost to the end purhaser.

Pete is the real inspiration behind dropshipping on this forum. IMHO Adam and Tom with DTG did a fine job following in his footsteps. I bring nothing new to the table other than a dedication to get those parcels out to your customers as quickly as if you had the stock yourself. One thing always impresses customers long after the price has been forgotten - quality of service and efficient turnaround of orders!

Going off topic here, but I know before drop shipping you was in the bathroom / kitchen market, the taps your drop shipping on your websites seem great, however there’s no description on the website, hence no way to compare it to anything else on the market, perhaps you can elaborate on that line?

Regards, Zak.

Still in that market but I take your point about the specs - I will add it to the list of things to do :niceone:

What would you define as a premium dropshipper?

Someone charging a monthly fee for drop shipping the stock but have very competitive prices - even if they are making a loss on the unit price itself.
