I did start off buying from them and then shipping to my customers, but the profits were peanuts so I started to dropship and doubled my profits every time.

Also when I dropship and get a dodgy item I just refund the customer, if I buy in bulk and get a load of dodgy items in one batch then I have to pay for return postage to Hong Kong which is not cheap.

Up to now I have only had to reimburse two customers via dropshipping, last time I bought in bulk I had ten items (basically every one of that model) all faulty and it would have cost me more to send them back than what they were worth so I just binned them.

DX site is well known for going down every now and then, and then coming back online a few weeks later. I've never bought off them myself but know the prices are reasonable but the service is terrible.

Not worth risking a reputation over with dropshipping, the risk is too high.

Now what I want to know is if you look at the dates, I still have one packaging from the 20th, yet they have sent the same item in the more recent purchases. Doh!!!

Anyway at least they have shipped most and are only 6 days behind which I can handle that, at least I can tell the customers items are in transit. It is when you get down to 10-12 days behind and they are still in packaging status that you get a little worried and don't really know what to tell your customer.

I have had a mega busy two days on eBay and did not really want to fold these items as they really are starting to fly out. Sold 29 yesterday at an average of £2-£3.50 profit per item.

At least you are seeing some movement on your items now! And congrats on the extra sales you have been making, out of interest and if you dont mind me asking what is your ebay username?

Then why are you not buying in some stock? What you're doing will not work on eBay anymore, with those kind of delivery times you'll not meet the required DSR standards and eventually get kicked off for under-performing.

He will have the additional costs of postage again this end thus eating into his profit.

Offering next day delivery/ 24 hour dispatch from the UK results in a higher selling price anyway, so that's not a massive issue. Saying that, shipping singles from Hong Kong is not cost effective at all. So there may not actually be much of an additional cost.

Nevertheless, that wasn't my point. To do as I suggested was in the interest of building a more long-term sustainable business. As eventually, the inevitable will happen, as I described.
