Guys, sorry if this is going off topic a little but how much do you reckon premium membership is going to cost?

Still considering options regarding memberships, we may just have a flat fee that enables you to dropship and buy in bulk at greater discount.

For the first month we will offer only 10-15 memberships @ half price to get things running and make sure everything runs smoothly, iron out little creases etc...

But we want to make it clear from the offset that won't be a case of a simple dropshipper & dropshipee relationship - it will be a 1st class personal service. A few ideas we've had: welcome pack via post, a CD with all images and product descriptions on, weekly updates regarding your sales, special offers dedicated for members, top seller per month recieves £xxx worth of goods, help with sales, places to sell etc... hence why we will limit membership to 25-30 for the first few month for definite.

We don't want to take on lots of members and find a) we are swamped with orders and b) we aren't able to offer a personal service to each member.

For this reason the membership price is likely to be higher than you'd see for most 'dropshipping' sites, but then again these are branded, top selling products with a huge market.

Matt.

Why can't you start with free membership?

By offering the products at profits, you have an incentive, the more you sell the highter profit there is for you. The products are popular but let's face it. Not everyone is cut out to make a successful business. Those who are bound to be successuful will do well even if the price is slightly high. You shouldn't have an issue of 'more than you can handle' orders. If you do, that's fantastic. Employ someone.

It takes a leap of trust and confidence to sign up with a dropshipper especially with a new business like yourself.

How many have we seen not fulfilled what they have promised?

The only model that seems working smoothly at the moment is Hardware Heros, Pete's and Dropthegoods. They get profit on each product. Then there is PCDropship too. But he has his own retail shop. Probably, amongst many other qualities such as his expertise and professionalism, that leverage convinces me to sign up with him even with membership fee. So is DevilWear as they hold a physical stock with them.

But yours is new. See which ones have gone down and which ones are doing really well and why?! The answer seems to be pretty clear.

Personally I wouldn't sign up with a company of no history. There is every chance that I have missed out a great opportunity but I'd need to ride out what they can offer. I need to ensure that I meet the stardard of service that I am striving to offer to my customers.

Besides, I really don't think a dropshipping company with membership fee is a viable model to start out unless they are looking for a quick money / unless they have established their business for a good few years and with a proven record of current subscribers backed up with positive feedback. For that, I am happy to pay for DevilWear or PCDripship. Otherwise, no fee upfront.

That's just my opinion.

That is fair a point, i understand your concern.

However we are talking about branded goods here - not unbranded imports from china, or refurbished consoles - both of which have significant markup, i.e. the dropshipper can make a profit whilst still allowing their customers to sell for a profit.

Look at Gamjelly - he sells branded goods. If he were to make a slight margin on each product and have free mebership it wouldn't be worth dropshipping as the profit margin woulnd't be great enough. There is a HUGE difference between unbranded and branded, when it comes to price, profitability, customer knowledge, popularity etc....

It basically comes down to trust. This is why we want to start of slow - to build trust. If you do not wish to fork out £££ for a membership fee then don't.

The standard of service will be as high as possible - hence the low memberships to begin with. We do not see this as just another dropshipper, we see this as providing a service, helping people obtain branded, popular goods at good prices and helping our customer base to sell them. To be able to dropship and obtain trade accounts with our distributors, you must be a registered business, you must have a trade history, a website etc...most people on here aren't registered business or a sole trader, and won't regsiter, they just want to make money on the side - we can provide them with access to this.

Thank you for your input though, much appreciated

UPDATE

We have a preliminary dropshipping price list for CNP products - CNP is probably one of the most popular brands in the UK, if not the most popular. There MAY be a small shipping charge per order, however we are working to make the price you see on the list the price you pay - we are v confident this will be the case.

There are 48 products in total.

If you want the list please email us: customerservice[AT]sfndistribution.co.uk or leave your email address on here/PM us with your email address.

All those that have emailed us so far will have the price list sent to them tonight.

Thanks.

UPDATE: All emails/PM's have been responded to.

I am away from tomorrow afternoon until the weekend, so if there's any updates to be made I'll inform you all via the blackberry I wont be able to respond to PM's or log onto the forum, but i should be able to email.

We are in talks with a third supplier now, as we want to see whose going to be the best - it might be a case of using all three, who knows. But things are progressing!

Thanks for all the interest, its good to know this is a service people want - we hope to bring it to you as fast as we can! However, we will not rush anything we want to get it 110% right before it is launched.

Thanks again people

Hi, i too have been searching around for a dropshipper of this type im heavily interested in this line of work. i agree with the other board members paid membership would be ideal, however pricing is vital the market at the top is very competitive and if the pricing and delivery is off it will be unsuccessful, But hey keep us posted im defiantely intersted.

What are people's thoughts on the LA MUSCLE range? Despite being not to popular with hardcore trainers, they are still extremely popular with many trainers and do sell ridiculously well. Plus, the profit margin is higher than most, if not all brands
