Hi guys,

A new thread as we have been able to gain a dropshipping account with a huge distributor of bodybuilding supplements. Things are in the early stages and this wont be available for a short while, BUT i need your feedback!

Note: we will have physical stock as well for wholesale deals.

Which would people prefer?

1) Free membership - lower profit margins
2) Membership - higher profit margins
3) Both

We will be limiting the number of memberships to between 30-35 to begin with to ensure we do not grow too fast and can provide 110% customer service and efficiency.

We will have access to well over 50 top brands of supplements, not limited to:

LA Muscle, Maximuscle, BSN, Muscletech, CNP, Weider, Met-rx, Interactive Nutrition, Optimum nutrition, PHd Nutrition, Boditronics, Nutrisport, Lucozade, Gaspari, Dymatize, Cytosport...

We will now concentrate on selecting the best products for this to enable good sales and good margins.

2) Membership - higher profit margins


I would defo sign up! Ive been after a dropshipping of supplements for ages

Will all depend on margins - i have looked into this several times and been in contact with brand manufactures, and the margins are very small unless you order mass qtys.

However if this is what your looking to do, i would be interested!

I think that's why we'll have different levels of membership, as well as both wholesale and dropshipping. As with anything economies of scale exist but we are confident that there are good enough margins to be made.

Brands such as maximuscle (probably rhe most popular) do have very small margins, plus most companies use them as loss leaders to get customers in - but if we have as many brands as possible then we can cover most bases.

There is also the opportunity to have health and beauty products as well, which really would open up the potential markets...we'll just have to see!

Yeah i think your right on that one - but to compete with the largest websites in the UK - the prices must be spot on. They offer the most competive prices and guartanteed next day delivery which i just couldnt compete with.

Un-Branded, or UK branded products might also be an avenue to explore if your at the design stage!

We are looking launch our own brand, albeit an 'economy' no frills brand at some point in the future. We have enough knowledge and contacts within the industry to do this without any real difficulty.

I think what ive learnt from this forum is that you'll never be the cheapest, but as long as you come across professionally and offer great service people will be willing to buy - we will help our members as much as possible, hence the initial small membership base we plan to have.

In addition, i like the scope this industry offers as products are monthly buys, meaning most products will be in demand fairly frequently, whereas with electronics, you always have to get new customers and its alot harder to build a customer base. If you catch my drift?


If of course we couldnt offer great value to members then we will concentrate on wholesale - either way we are confident we will be able to offer a profitable service.

I would go for paid memberships, especially if your going to be limiting the amount of memberships to start with. if you charge a fee for your services your only going to attract the people who are serious about doing this and not just anybody. also if you dont charge a membership fee people may just decide to cut out the middle man (which would be us) and just order the products from directly from you. I personally will definetly sign up to this mate and dont mind paying a membership fee, Iv been looking for a supplier of these products for a while so im def in. have you got a rough idea of any prices yet?
