Default Google Adwords vs. Overture (Yahoo Search)

Got a question for all of you internet marketers out there:

Obviously Google and Yahoo are the biggest PPC engines around. If my main competitor site is ranked very high naturally (through SEO) and also dominates the PPC bids on Google - but totally ignores Yahoo, is it wise for me begin my campaigns at Yahoo, try to dominate there, and then move to Google? Or just start out competing with him at Google?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

hello BILLYA

had the same problem ,couldn't get a lot of traffic to my site even through i was ranked number 1 on msn and yahoo for some keywords, but when it came to google i was not even in the top 1000.
then i used google adword spent a small fortune and only sold one item,so decided to get good keywords with google and now i ranked on page 1 with some keywords and now sell quite alot of items ,if you can do well with google all the other search engines follow with good rankings for your site.
this site might help you out a bit http://forums.seochat.com/

David,

PPC marketing can always be dominated if enough capital can be thrown into the mix. With a high enough spending limit and cost per click if you really want to compete with your competitor in the PPC area you can do so. It may involve you spending a little more on clicks than you have done before but this may be a practical idea for your business to undertake while increasing your effectiveness in the natural channels, which by the way will take considerably longer.

So what I think I'm trying to say is, short term wise, if you have the budget throw it into the PPC scheme while you improve your natural SE positions and then when those positions improve you should be able to drop the PPC budget back a little and let the natural scheme take over. (Remember to keep what keywords you advertise tight, don't be too broad.)

Regarding starting over at Yahoo. If the market is untapped, especially by your competitor then I would definitely steal the advantage and cover that hole with your own campaign. After all, with little competition over there you can indulge in lower costs per clicks and more than likely still the same click through percentage.

There are many different methods, and a lot of these methods only 'trying' them will tell you whether they work for YOUR business.

Okay, so my next question is, has anyone used Yahoo PPC? Does it work? From what I have read it doesn't bring the same amount of traffic that Google PPC does.
