As I am sure most people are aware Ebay fees are being changed from March 1st.The all singing all dancing 'here's what we're giving you' soon stops when you have a closer read.Final value fees on video games will be reduced from 5.25% to 3.25% on items that sell for over £29.99 BUT fees go from 5.25% to 9% on items that sell for under £29.99,this makes it pretty pointless selling PSP and DS games on Ebay ,basically every £10 you make ebay will take £1.On new release PSP games you generally get around £25 ,under the old fees you would pay £1.30 now you will pay £2.25.Am I reading this wrong?Because if I'm not Ebay are doing what they always do for us Sweet **** all

I am seriously expecting something out of Google soon. Sick and tired of eBay rule and fee changes that always stick it to the Seller. Adding salt to injury is PayPal rule and fee changes on top. Double dipping *******! It is as if we are working for them and not us.

Just thinking might be able to get round it listing in another category. At the end of the day nobody searches by category, they either type in the game title or the console.

Just to let everyone know, I did not explicitly write that word out in my post below. It was already *'ed out but in a way it could be understood. However, I do understand the reason for censoring it.

Does a 95p increase in fees really affect your margins that much, if so then either source them cheaper or look at another sector that offer more profit. My PS3 games return me enough to more than cover that fee increase, its the sourcing that makes the money.

95p X 100+ games per month X 12=£1140 per year for what?
Ebay is simply ripping people off.
PS3 game profits will increase as they usually go for over £30.But that will not last forever.
Musthave mobiles if you have such an easy going attitude to giving money away throw some in my direction,or share your expert sourcing techniques with the rest of us!

They operate a business, they are there to make money, they allow you to sell on their site it is not your right, either pay the fees or find another way of selling that will give you the marketplace that they can..

Hence, why I am in the market now and wont be when the supply meets demand.

Its not giving money away its investing in your business, costs are an inevitability and if this simple fact eludes anyone then they need to really consider their ability to be in business.

throw some in my direction
If it will give me a return then OK, after all I am a businessman.

The simple answer is hard work, I have built my contacts up over a number of years (the majority of which have not come from a website. There are people on here that have contacts and abilities to source products that i do not have, it just so happens that I have some in the mobiles and consoles areas.

The original intention of my reply was not to target an individual or to be aloof but more to try and impart that if a relatively small increase in a selling cost ie. 95p made that big a difference to your profits then surely the work to profit ration is heavily weighted to the work side???

I forever see people complaining about the fees that Ebay charge and how they are being ripped off, so OK here's the challenge you sort yourself out with a marketplace the size of Ebay for less than what they charge and I will give you all my suppliers details free of charge. Costs are a part of business life, to successfully operate a business you have to be in a position to impart these costs into your selling price and if your margins do not allow for this then maybe the product you have chosen is the wrong one or sourced incorrectly.

A key factor I always work to in any of my business ventures is that my profit is always made when I buy the product as this gives me my known margin and cost base etc. Luckily I am in a position where my buying power allows me the affordability of absorbing my costs whilst maintaining my margins, however even if anyone is just starting out then the product choice and the buying price is the profit maker not the selling price.

I know lots of sellers go for the high volume, low mark up attack but I got into business to improve my life not tie myself up by working harder for little return.

Hope this explains my corner as it seems you took it personally.

So basically what you are saying is it is ok for ebay to raise there final value fee by 71%.As it happens the 95p is neither here nor there I will more than make that up as long as PS3 games stay above £30.
Your response was never taken personally,I am simply pointing out that I, like many others run their buisness to generate a second income,in my case so the wife can look after the kids and doesn't have to work.So yes £1100 is a lot of money to lose when lets face it the service I am getting is not changing.
To put it another way I expect judging by what you say you have a store or outlet, would you be happy if your landlord raised your rent by 71%?They operate a business, they are there to make money, they allow you to sell on their propery it is not your right, either pay the rent or find another place to sell.Sounds familiar?Basically your words not mine.
