You're one of the lucky ones then actually getting to speak to someone at Ebay. Here in the UK they actively go out of their way to hide all telephone numbers so that you can't contact them directly by phone.
After searching around on the net i found 1 number and that was only for power selllers.

Ebay woes
It made me smile reading this thread as ebay have today 'awarded' me power seller status. The problem with them and other pure online success stories is they deem themselves utterly powerfull, having creamed the market in their chosen area. The worst frustration for most users is the inability to talk to someone on the phone. Its a new phenomena, a massively successfull bussiness with seemingly no physical presence, and definately ideas above their station. The same is true for paypal. How we overcome this is another question....

Congratulations on the power seller status!
The volume is good on Ebay but my experience indicates that if you are selling any potentially contentious products (DVD's, games etc) then don't bother. It's simply not worth the hassle.
Now that EBay owns Paypal any problems with one which have an effect on the other and if you rely on Paypal for your website you can be in trouble if you have had problems on EBay.

I would never suggest using Paypal as a payment processor. The same T&C's exist. I have a friend who had over $20K "frozen" for 3 months for no apparant reason. He actually had to have a lawyer send a threat letter to them to unfreeze it.

Well one of the reasons they might give you for freezing an account (which might have over 1K in it) is that you might be committing "fraudulent" activity. So far I've had over £3K in my account and it's all fine...maybe because I have a business account and a confirmed address but I'm not sure.

My brother had * ALL* of his PayPal funds frozen for 6 months and then his account was closed.
The reason...
2 people sent him "fraudulent payments". PayPal would not give my brother any other information other than those few words. That was the end of his account and any future accounts through no fault of his own.
PayPal sucks alright.
They have been ok with me so far...touch wood

Ebay suspensions.
This is very interesting regarding Ebay.I have for some time now realised how bad a company they are for dealing with their highly charged customers ( financially and mentally!!) But until it happens to you it hits home harder !!
My account was supsended over 6 weeks ago , for not sending out goods!!
I have tried to communicate in a sensible manner to Ebay customer services , to no avail. They just send you inane answers to questions you havnt asked .
And you wait another agonising 24 hours to see the next stupid answer you receive from an obvious moron .
Rather than get my blood pressure up I eventually found it quite funny!!
After some searching On Google I found a few telephone numbers for Ebay and managed to get a modicum of help from the powerseller help.but after doing what was requested and faxing proof of postage and my identity etc over 4 times I was still sent the same stupid quaetions from Ebay asking me to send the same information over and over again!!
I came to the conclusion they do not have anything better to do and enjoy hiding behind their very much closed doors while running you around in circles.
The interesting thing about my case is that I have been asked many times by Ebay to provide proof of postage for an item that was Never paid for !!! The buyer stated he paid in feedback and left negative. I asked countless times for him to provide proof of payment and none was forthcoming. The item in question was sold for £5 !!
So Ebay are insistant on me sending them proof of delivery for an item not paid for.
So until I do this my account remains suspended.
3 other items in question going back 6 months have all been delivered and proof has been sent to Ebay , but I go round and round in circles.
So I would say to anybody seriously thinking of setting up a business to sell on Ebay as a main sales channel..... DONT!!
Another colleague of mine had his 5k feedback closed down because of "sensative items " Ebay wouldnt say what this was , but he was also selling DVD`s .All legitimate , vat paid and invoiced!!
I am considering my next move as far as Ebay goes ,I have calculated I have spent over £8,000 in fees over the last few years so to be treated like this is very very poor.

Another thing, don't try logging onto your Paypal account from the same PC as your brother. If they find you accessing your account from the same IP address as a banned account they will ban yours as well.

Thats ok, I dont.
I think that only applies to ebay not PayPal so things should be ok. His wife has a PayPal account and accesses that without problems.

Posts i read on the Pypal sucks website seemed to indcate that people were gettng banned "in the same household" and that is, i believe part of Paypal's as well as EBay's T&C's.
Perhaps your brother doesn't have a static IP?
Either way don't let any kind of balance build up in Paypal, the general consensus seems to be to amke sure you withdraw your funds on a daily basis.
