Default My Own eBay Template

I dont want to pay mega bucks for a professionally designed template. So I have been messing about with Fireworks creating my own.

What I want to know is how to impletment it into my ebay listings using Auctiva?

The template i have created is one big image with different sections for the text to go into (ie Item Info, Payment , Returns etc...)

Anyone know how to create your own template?

It is not recommended to use one entire image. Not only will it be slow loading eBay can pull your listings as you can edit the image at anytime and change the auction details.

I used to have my auctions pulled for having my own image. The best thing to use is a good html one and put the code in ebay. If you know what you are doing you can make some pretty snazzy templates and they wont get pulled!

This may be a bit complicated but i did this once using cs3 and dreamweaver.

Create your template. Now i use cs3 so i cant be certain if this can be done with fireworks.
Save your file as html and image. This opens your file up with the splice tool option to cut the file up into cells or separate image files.
What you need to do here is make sure that the area you wish to add your listing details are one complete cell and save.
I would then save this and upload it to my server.
Open up dreamweaver and upload your files you'd saved on your server to it.
This should open it up with the separate cells showing the exact same as photoshop had it. Select your area that you wish to add text and such and press backspace.
The reason for this is that every cell is basically an image. So when you press backspace it deletes this image leaving the cell free to have your text and images added. One word of caution is that if you use a footer image and you end up adding more text and images causing the cell to expand you could end up distorting the shape of your template if that makes sense.
Once your happy save to a folder on your server and then select the source tab and copy the html.
The html should have the direct address for each image file for it to show in any listing.
Open Auctiva up. Open up the description editor and select the html view and paste your html code there.
If your html is correct then all you need to then is just simply enter all the necessary details in to Auctiva for each listing.

Now I did say its complicated and im sure the instructions are as clear as mud so any questions i'll try to answer. To be fair I only did this once as i just create my listings directly in Dreamweaver and use photoshop just for the graphics.

I made my own based on my web design. Basically I jsut made the HTML and then put it in the listing using auctiva.

Here is a link to a past listing

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180146714016

It is nothing entirely special, but I wanted it to relate to my website.

It's amazing how many ebayers with 10k+ feedback have crap templates.

In all honesty a pretty simple template is all that is needed, anything to OTT is simple a waste of time and energy from my experience. I have done quite extensive testing using various levels of template and seen very little difference in selling value between super complicated and basic templates.

Image templates are a no no on ebay for the above reasons, it will lead to auction pulls and possible suspension. Images within a template are ok (product, shipping icons etc) but images that are text based with terms of sale/product details etc can be remotely changed at any point and will get pulled.
