I wasn't limiting my views to Ebay tbh, now don't get me wrong customer service is important but it is a fine balance between business gain/worth and liability...

You can always raise it with eBay, although they don't get involved very much...
i had a issue where i paid for a hard drive, 6 weeks later, it still wasn't sent. The seller then issued a refund after 8 weeks! After about 1 week, he raised a 'non payment dispute' against me!! (obviously has no idea!)
I rightfully left Neg feedback. Even though i paid immediatly with paypal, he left me neg feedback for no reason. i reported him to eBay, they basically said in not so many words..."We don't get involved in feedback issue, unless its a language or abusive issue"
If your that worried about the feedback, right a feedback reply as stated on hear, then send him a "mutual feedback redrawal request".
The comments remain, but the feedback score is removed!
Hope that's of some use,
Matt

All the unpaid item dispute would have done was give him his ebay fees back. Nothing against you.
IIf you were refunded then he will just send that to get his final selling fee back from ebay.
My take on all this is just refudn the guy. Once you have it back refund him. But I am a business, if you just sold it for something to do a neg on your buying account wont harm you as much as if it was a business account.
Whats ur ebay ID?
If he left any abusive remarks or calling you a scammer then u can have it removed under term that its something to do with character? Whats it called?

If you are a register business seller here in Germany you would have to refund him. All register seller must have a 30 day refund option. You must comply with website rules. They are busting seller left and right for violation here. You guys have it easy in the rest of the EU.

This is what I tend to do for simular problems on eBay, Ask customer to send product back to me via recorded delivery.
Issue Refund of Full amount - his delivery costs to me.
Get him to give me good feedback, then refund his delivery costs.
Then ban his ebay id from purchasing from me again
Always refund, yolur customers, on ebay do all you can to keep your feedback as clean as possible.
Last month I sold 2 x Watches (Both Military issue type) that the customer got and decided that they wern't of the standard he was expecting (He can't have looked at the photo very well, or the description, they were both listed as damaged and not working!) He paid over £80.00 for 2 x broken watches.
He wasn't happy, but a full refund has kept him onside, and the watches they were both sold to other users on ebay for £45.00 each, and both these people were happy with there purchases.
Thats life.
Thats Ebay
Regards
Tango

That's what I'm talkin' about!
Youget the stuff back, you resell it and what has really cost you to maintain good feedback and just plain good customer relations.
Every one of us has bought something they wish they hadn't. And being able to return it made it a lot easier to take, eh?
