Ebays largest seller by far and now at 98% and will drop to 97% when the chages take place. Do you think they give a toss?
Not in the slightest.

Did you stand for feedback blackmail before? Then why start now, use the ebay mechanism for reporting them and move on. These idiots eventually get cuaght out and the feddback score will be adjusted retrospectively.

THe times I have heard 'if you don't do this I will be forced to leave a neg' or 'I am giving you the opportunity to do so and so before I leave a neg' words to that effect. This on their initial email before we have had a chance to rectify any problems!

As soon as any customer thinks they can hold me to ransom before even diving me the chance to solve issues my attitude is 'fine, go ahead and do it'. The matter is closed.

It actually amazing how many come back with their tails between their legs.

Too true!

Under normal circumstances, they wouldn't have the opportunity to do this, unless of course they went to trading standards but it would have to be a fairly serious matter to make that applicable. It's amazing how consumers perceive business is conducted differently just because its eBay!

The same applies to shipping. Because it's ebay they think they should pay 20p delivery on a 2kg item sent via Special Delivery.

On Amazon we have a postage scale based on the value of the item, the minimum is £3.99. So a small item which costs say 60p to post is charged at £3.99 regardless. Post the same item on ebay and charge more than £1 and their world collapses

Never has anyone complained about the shipping costs on Amazon.

I agree.

Why do you think this is? Is it because of the way that eBay is marketed? Being the cheap of cheap, home of bargain hunters etc.

eBay has certainly changed consumers perception of value, has flipped the supply chain on its head and caused mass disintermediation using the dynamic pricing method, is this the reason? Or is there something even further below the surface that causes it?

I think eBay, much like the Internet as a whole, has brought in a need breed of consumer. They are informed and more price sensitive than ever before, simply because there is so much choice out there for them!

What most punters do not realise is:

1) We are a business and have business costs.

2) Pixies do not come in over night and magically pick, pack and dispatch our orders

3) As a VAT registered business we have to charge 17.5% on top of our postage prices

Like I say, it's only ebay that has this problem. Our websites and Amazon have no problem with customers paying for postage.

On another note, here is a sample of some feedback from today....

fast delivery and well packaged- thank you

Great items, well packed, and quick delivery. Highly recommended A+++++++

Excellent transaction, very quick service, many thanks.

Brilliant ! Delievery was very quick, I will do business with them again !

Item arrived promptly, many thanks

Good fast professional service, recomend and use again!!

fast delivery great item many thanks.

What people do not realise to process many orders the same day and deliver them within 24 hours takes organisation, systems in place and good staff. These things ALL COST MONEY and have to be recouped somewhere, either on the selling price or the postage price!
