Default Charging customers on checkout?

hey

just wanted to know how/where you charge a customer a fee, the 3.4% paypal fee if they are using it.

eBay doesn't permit you to add transaction fees to auction sales. You can build it into your pricing structure, but to have a separate fee, similar to VAT, is forbidden. (Unless they have changed their rules!)

Also, merchant accounts do not allow it. The facts are that either adding on for using a card is in violation of VISA / Mastercard merchant agreements. So, by the way is having a minimum purchase amount. I know, some do it, but if reported they can get into trouble.

You can offer a "cash discount" for actual cash payment at time of purchase, but no upcharge for using plastic.

Another "falsehood" is a cashier demanding ID when using a card. As long as the back of the card is signed, no further ID is required. Again, this is specifically spelled out in the regulations.
