Yep Ebay still manage to **** something up but thats another reason why Ebay should have some sort of regulation or at least have an independent body review the entire system.
Sure if ebay was state funded but ebay is a private company and should be able to do what they like.

Why do it? Why list the item as cheap and charge extra postage and would be curious about people thoughts on the tax declared.
Because there are no FVF on postage charges.

High postage has nothing to do with tax evasion, it's FVF evasion. FVF is only charged on the sale price.

Nothing to do with it? So they are not defrauding the tax man in any way then?

What about insurance, in some cases you would need a receipt to prove the value of the goods - yet the receipt will show a cheaper price than the true value.

There are a number of issues and as I said before it cant be justified.

Sorry about my rants been a long few weeks (back on the old 19 hour day) and am knackered and Ebay in my opinion has too many conmen on there.

Need early night tonight.

It is not tax evasion?

You are taxed on your profits. If an item costs you £5.

You sell it for £1 plus £15 shipping.

Shipping costs you £2

Your profit is still £13 regardless how much you charge for shipping.

What ever you charge for goods, shipping, insurance, sex under the table, you still get taxed, none of them are exempt.

Also, with imported goods - VAT is calculated on TOTAL (product price + shipping),
so tax man doesn't lose anything :-)

eBay just wants to earn more on FVF, that's all...

How is profit £13 if you have documents to show shipping cost £15 thats what i dont get. Or does it rely on the honesty of the seller.

Be honest with you all I have no idea how tax works, spent 18 years in financial market but never touched or bothered with tax and now have an accountant that does everything for me.
