£16 - £5 - £2 = £9 profit. My mistake. I have been working since 4am!

I think what you are referring to is importing and declared values, which is something very different.

If an overseas seller sends you something worth £100 and marks the value as £10, YOU are evading Duty/Vat/Tax and not the seller.

Wasnt picking you up on the math there - didnt even notice lol

Its all too confusing to me - anyway end of day i think at least Ebay is trying to sort some things out which surely must be good for the future for buyer and seller sure things will go wrong but what doesnt when change happens and some people may take business elsewhere but that will hurt ebay too.

I have nothing against sorting some things out :-) But eBay should know that you can't move a pallet for 8 EUR :-)

HA ha , I take this is something you will post on the blog?

Never been interested in selling current games kit, only classic stuff as a hobby

I'm a 3d games artist by trade! hence the interest and dis-interest in consoles, I'm working on a new 3d engine for the iphone 2 at the moment, all cool stuff

You might charge that to your customer but you declare the real cost to the tax man.

This is going to be strange for me when it hits the UK, 90% of the items I sell, happen to be "rucksack size" and cost upto £40 to ship to the US!

So is someone telling me that eBay have a right to charge a max of €8 on anything. Even when posting something like a PS3, TV etc... will cost at least £20 not to mention any extra for added weight/insurance.

eBay are doing this for profits and profits only. Buyers got smart and realised that less price and more shipping saved them money, shipping is always shown before you buy, in no way is it hidden. Buyers can always see how much a item costs total.

Now eBay want that money back so enforce this rule. Same as the PayPal rule, nothing to do with security, its all profit. If you have to accept PayPal for everything to be 'secure' then what happens if you sell something you cant or dont want to post such as crystal glass etc...the buyer picks it up, but they pay with PayPal before hand, then they file a claim and PayPal pay them back because you dont have proof of postage.

eBay are really starting to take the pee eye double s now.

Even so I have now reduced my postage by over 50% and upped my prices. eBay ultimately take more profit on some sales than I do.

But then another way of looking at it, will be the sellers from say!!!! "China" that sell many items at 0.99 with shipping at £20.00 will no longer be selling, which will leave more customers for the rest of us?
