There is also the huge variance in traffic from one week to another, one day your listings are raised, then even with lower dsr's they get lowered.
Very little rhyme or sense on ebay at the moment. The best thing as suggested for people is to start sourcing other areas to replace the income, no one likes too many changes this quick in life.
As for this latest change heading our way, it's all about increasing FVF, just as with them pushing free shipping recently, the higher their fees the happier they are.

Fees have never really been the issue IMO, the recent structure and format changes to teh business model are the bones of contention in my eyes..

Ebay should just scarp postage costs altogether and make all sellers include the shipping charge in with the selling price. There should only be a postage option for international. That way it would stop all buyer confusion and put everyone on a level playing field.

I don't see the problem with high shipping charges. Buyers can clearly see what the total cost will be and can decide to buy or not to buy. No-one is forcing them to buy from a particular seller so where is the issue?
Forcing fixed charges is ridiculous in my opinion.

I am not a reguler e-bayer but doing some small business over there...
The problem is, you can value your product to 1gbp , and add a huge shipping cost on the top of that, than you can gain some more sales as the buyers always checks the price of the product first, rather than shipping...
I think the best way would be,combining the shipping and product price in one column...

How is this shipping set on Ebay?
One of the people that works for me is sorting out buying up preowned games and he is using Ebay for some, he bought 80 PS2 and Xbox games and shipping was £35 he then asked me to authorise another one which is 100 games and the seller is quoting on Ebay £120 for shipping???? Thought people were losing out on shipping - £120 from UK?
80 games at £35 shipping so an extra 20 is £85 more.
Obviously not going for that one with Ebay shipping but as we can have boxes (alot more than just 100 Games) transported over for £150 may still get them.

For someone just starting up on ebay,i believe to be able to compete with the big guns out there, you gonna have to lower your price or match theirs and the packaging and shipping costs leaves the only room for profit.Still, I don't believe it is well as exaggerated as most people think it is,almost everyone in the uk now knows the basics of postage. It will be hard to find a buyer if you are charging 50gbp to ship a ps3 in the UK

You believe wrong. No point just selling on price, you will lose out in the long run, what you need to do is make a better auction, offer a better service etc and more importantly buy at a better rate if you are struggling to make margin.
If your competitors are selling at your buying price you are selling the wrong goods or more likely buying at way too high a price. Don't forget larger competitors have larger overheads as well, not everything is in their favour.
