Ah maybe this is why there are still Con charges for postage on some products.

I stopped selling on ebay some time ago... not because of ebay although they were starting to get a pain in the ass and well above themselves... it was the buyers who made my mind up to quit.... after selling on a no reserve auction and stating the postage price for UK and rest of the world I had a buyer from europe who complained and left negative feedback because she paid 3.50Gbp postage and the stamps only came to 1.95Gbp... she wasnt the only one to be honest... I pointed out that the container it was shipped in cost .90Gbp add to that the time and packing cost plus getting it to the post office I was running the postage at a loss, and waiting 3 weeks for payment. Plus all the idiot buyers who after reading the listing with measurements of 30cmx25cm insisted on asking me what size it was and what colour it was and what was it made from..... all the information was available to see... but if you dont answer their inane questions you get neg feedback.... and the unhelpful sods at ebay who took ages and lots of emails to get problems sorted. One woman left me aggressive emails because I sent the items to the address she gave me but she had moved.... Im a mind reader of course.... I decided to pack it in and make some real money instead of spending all day piddling around on ebay answering stupid questions, arguing with the host and paypal. Never looked back.

of course not it was just another straw that broke the camels back.... not all buyers are idiots either.... but enough is enough.... to much time and effort for the return.... it was essentially a business decision helped along by the idiot customers everyone gets.

Well some do bring it on themselves, I have someone who is buying used games for our new venture and he is using Ebay (up to him as its his job to get the games) but have told him to leave neg feedback for one seller already. He paid for some games on the 9th June and we received an email on the 24th to say they have been posted, this was after him even contacting seller asking for tracking number 3 times but seller obviously couldnt be bothered to reply or even give an explanation after i emailed once we knew games had been posted. My opinion, appalling service and neg feedback deserved.
Looking at the old system the seller would have left negative for us in retaliation so would that be fair?
Most Ebay sellers have not got the first clue about running a business, customer service or anything and the old system let them retaliate even if buyer did not move house straight after transaction.

I'm hoping ebay will amend the new feedback system in the near future, to stop allowing feedback from people who buy and then never pay would be a start.

The main problem is the lack of education buyers have over the star system, by marking so many sellers down on P+P charges for instance will it change anything?

Yes, it will, since the sellers will not get a monthly discount due to a low dsr they will put their prices up, which makes more commission for ebay.

Both sellers and buyers are being played by ebay at the moment. Buyers are now actively encouraged to leave poor feedback with the notice stating "Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback".

Sorry but dont think that is the intention, sure there are a few arsehole buyers that will do this but then again there are sellers too. What about the retaliation sellers......anyone here done that? Buyer paid straight away (didnt move house) then left bad feedback cos of poor service/product etc so seller left bad feedback for no real reason.

Said it before, good sellers will not have too many problems its a business you will get customers that you just cant please. If you owned a retail shop and had a customer complain or shout would you shout back in front of other customers?

The ones that buy then dont pay, yep pain in the backside but you can get fees back. Ok so you have lost some time in listing etc, lost a sale cos the person who got outbid could have had it. People expect Ebay to be a walk in the park then complain if things go wrong. Things go wrong in business, sellers will order then change their mind.

Ebay is a business they are out to make money anyway they can no different from any member on here or any seller on Ebay.

The instances I mentioned in particular were not the only reasons I gave ebay the heave ho, there were many other instances that accumulated to the point of exhaustion. I had similar problems in the shops and markets I had... one woman returned after buying an item and demanded a refund because she said she had found the same item cheaper in another shop, yeh right. Someone purchased an item and returned after 10 mins and demanded a refund because her mother had just purchased the same item.... and?... when I say demanded.... I mean full force..... but like other traders it was the tip of the iceberg.... what concerns me about ebay postage rules is simple.... how do you standardise postage without standardising items?... eg I sell 60lb of lead to one customer and 60lb of feathers to another..... both pay the same price for the items... both buyers live in the same street in the UK and I am posting from Thailand..... I can send the lead as 1Cbm and have a lot of wasted but paid for space, standard cost...... the feathers would take about 10Cbm... slightly different rules apply in UK because most services charge by either weight or size which ever is the most expensive... same buying price..... same delivery street ........ different postage costs.... no matter where you post from
