Personally, I don't have a problem with the actual Paypal services. But the cost of running an ebay business is getting deeper and deeper. Isn't the point of ebay to cut costs so in the end the consumer can benefit from the discounts?

I know this sounds like a bit of a whinge because there are so many costs in running an actual retail shop however this couldn't have come at a worse time for Australia with interest rates, petrol rises etc. the average consumer is tightening the belt when it comes to retail shopping, and my old friend and enemy Paypal is not helping the situation!

Thats my rant for the day

The fees ???

Googlecheckout is 1.5% and 15p. per TX which is standard rate,.. and if you use X amount on adword u get 10 times X amount free processing

So if 10£ per month on on google adword you get 100£ free processing,.. FREE!

Paypal is 2.9% and 20p. per TX on paypal you would have to be turning over £50,000.00 per month in order to get the 1.4% rate,

users shouldnt be forced to use paypal just because ebay owns paypal,

Yes the fee's for Google Checkout are cheaper but it really has no use for eBay. You can't use Google Checkout on eBay for obvious reasons and it has less features included.

Google Checkout can only be used on websites. And that has it's problems because most shopping cart scripts have been modified so that a little faint Google Checkout image has to be placed in the shopping cart (which can easily be missed) and not in the checkout process.

Buyers on eBay also see as PayPal being safe, as eBay automatically offers free protection up to £150, so obviously the buyer would pay with PayPal and about the fee's, it's free if someone pays you from their PayPal balance or their Bank Account.

This just announced today

eBay has withdrawn its notification to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) about removing other payment methods. Instead eBay will continue to allow all existing payment methods on eBay.com.au.

We have decided to withdraw the notification to stop any further confusion and disruption among the eBay Community.
eBay regrets any uncertainty that this process has caused among the Community and believe that today’s decision will remove further doubt.
eBay’s goal has always been to provide members with a safer experience. Under the current circumstances, we will continue to look for ways to do that while still offering a variety of payment choices.
eBay requires all sellers to offer PayPal as a payment choice on eBay.com.au along with other permitted payment methods of their choosing.
Although we have decided not to move ahead with the further planned changes, eBay is pleased that all buyers can now choose PayPal along with other permitted payment methods of their choice.
Other recently introduced safety measures, such as PayPal Seller Protection and increased PayPal Buyer Protection (now up to $20,000) will also remain.

Regards,
The eBay team

So the next thing they will offer is maybe "inlarged fees" to accept methods other then PayPal? What would be nice would be a reduced fee, if you use PayPal, but I can't see that happening!
