Default Fee Calculation Driving Me Crazy!

Hey guys

eBays method for calculating the FVF of a product is really confusing me..

If for example i list a item (Quantity 5) using BuyItNow for 380GBP per item. How do i calculate my Final Value Fee?

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html

Its not simply 7.5% is it?

-As i sold a item with same format for 297GBP and the fee was £8.09...

Anyone help me with this please?

Thanks

No, it's not 7.5%

You will roughly pay £14.27

Calculation:

7.5% of the initial £29.99 - £2.25
4.5%of the remaining balance of £267.01 - £12.02

£2.25 + £12.02 = £14.27

That's for all categories, excluding Media and Technology.

Did I not see one posted on these very forums a few short weeks ago or am I getting confused with a vat/duty calculator?

All I do is work out my cost price, then add 20% round up, and thats my start price for an auction. That was I have enough to cover eBay and Paypal fees in the 20%.

As for profit, I normally get bidding wars on the items, so the items I sell do happen to make enough profit for me.

For eBay shop items, I take 10% off my RRP (Online shop), and sell it for that.

It works for me

Regards

7.5% of the initial £29.99 - £2.25
4.5%of the remaining balance of £267.01 - £12.02

£2.25 + £12.02 = £14.27

?

7.5% of what? Why did you subtract 12pounds? And this is for a buy it now auction priced at 380 pounds right?

Thanks very much

For an auction at £380 you will pay (assuming that its not listed in Media and Technology)

£1.30 to list it (not counting any listing enhancements)

Then when it sells for £380 it gets complicated.

The first £29.99 of your £380 is caculated at 7.5% which is £2.25
the rest of it (£380 less the £29.99 we already calculated above) £350.01 is calculated at 4.5% which is £15.75.

So we add 2.25 and 15.75 together

Your Final Value fee for selling an item at £380 will be £18.00 (give or take a penny or two)

You have 18 and the poster above 14?

By the way its a laptop so would go in computing.

Going with the above calculation - My last BIN auction for 5 of these each sold @ 297pounds and i paid 8.09 pound each , (Above calculation would show 14.27pound....)

Anyone know the right method?

I only want the FVF for BIN style auctions
