In reality moving from eBay to eBid is like moving from the high street to a car boot. Sure, the rent will be far less at the car boot but the traffic will be vastly reduced.

Remember, there is a reason they are selling unlimited listings for £49.99!

I'm not saying don't try eBid, but I suggest using both. Run them together instead of putting all of your eggs in one basket. If you arn't making any money on eBay then it may be a case of looking at your business model, because in my (humble!) opinion, Fees arn't that high when you look at the traffic it generates.

Good Luck though!

Five star I agree, But...... 75% of my business comes from past customers, that have purchased military kit from me, for the last 5 - 7 years. Taking them to eBid will give me a far better profit rate.

The 25% that are new, will still get the chance to purchase from me on eBay, as I will be still offering 5 - 10 items a month.

If eBid works out, then great! If Ebay gets better (some hope) that I can carry on. If Ebay push everyone out (moe then likely) then I have already moved and have a business mode to carry on with.

Regards

Your logic seems good on this one Tango particularly with your product range - the only downside I see is increased workload - what's ebid like for listing tools - £50 for lifetime selling fees is peanuts and I imagine is just a carrot to boost listings and won't last forever.

Well for the £5 a seller+ account will cost me I think I'll be giving it a try. Doesn't take many listing fees to get back, though I won't be deserting eBay just yet.

Tango,

Well done with the repeat customers - very valuable, and if you can transfer them onto eBid then you've done very well. I think for attracting new customers, you will struggle, but as your repeats are so high it doesn't seem like it will have a major effect.

Anyway, keep us updated on your progress with eBid. I'm sure everyone will be interested (and keeping their fingers crossed!).

Five start I will keep all updated, What Im not going to do is generate a false feedback list by false bidding - as others have done.

There is information going round that "google" has just purchased eBid, if thats true, it can't be a bad thing?

I started selling on ebid last week, and personally I feel that the place has so little traffic it makes it unviable. Unless as you suggest, you are actually directing traffic to you items on ebid I highly doubt you'll sell anything.

My items have been up for 1 week, and the most popular has 3 views!! (2 of which I think were me). Same item on eBay had 38 views within the hour.

Whilst I've had problems with eBay in the past the exposer you get is unmatched, and they know that. I have a feeling that those of you moving to ebid will be moving back soon.

Well, there is one bit of a mistake. Should say "listing on ebid", not "selling on ebid".

I did the same thing a week ago....Complete waste of time. People need to quit fooling themselves into thinking there will be another eBay around the corner. Not gonna happen. You're just one of the millions. Your business will not be missed by eBay. The only thing that can stop eBay is a well organized boycott, or a class action lawsuit, but that will never happen because people will continue to put up with eBay's crap, because the earning potential is so great. (guilty)

If you are able to actually SELL ANYTHING, you should be damn happy, and stop complaining about feedback, and petty nickel and dime fee increases...I'd rather deal with eBay's sh** than the manager at McDonald's sh** any day of the week...
