Default Ebid here I come......

Well I have decided it might / is time to start looking at moving away from eBay and onto eBid.

I think that I will keep running eBay (while I still can) but start to get eBid up and running to develope the feedback there as well.

One option I am thinking about is:-
1. Sell item on eBay
2. Post item, along with a advert for 10% cashback off next purchase from eBid - also explain in advert how eBid's fees are less, so my prices will be less, and that they accept paypal!
3. Link from Website to eBid, no more mention of eBay, just a new link, that goes stright to the new store.
4. Push eBid in as many forums that I can, lots of links and lots of advertising space.

What do other sellers think? Has eBay nearly had its day, is it time to move?

Well I have started, my eBay shop is now closed, that will save me money each month..... Ebay asked me the reasons why I was closing the account. (Not that they will read it) but I put information along the lines of "latest changes being anti seller"

Yes I agree, but they just happen to be slightly wrong. I have looked into the area I sell in, on eBid and other sellers are getting business. So there is a market, and as eBid now do the "pay £49.99 and no more fees for ever" deal its got to be worth it?

Anti seller, I love it! I have been getting offers from them for free listings ect. They also (in their own way) want to know why I haven't been selling lately such as sending me my seller income invoices from last November, December and January. I have been feeling the same way as you and alot of other members.

Good luck on Ebid. Once you get some feedback you will se some traffic. It's not like ebay traffic but it's something. I have a feedback of about 76 and I am getting more hits as time goes buy.

This past few weeks I have had sales that I noticed were new members. Maybe there are bunch of buyers moving to Ebid too, hopefully. The only problem is getting all of them to leave you feedback when they get their stuff. I have had quite a few that have not left me feedback for some reason. I would think their happy with the transaction or I would of heard about it by now.

Good Luck!

I think ebid is gonna take off a bit and, as you say, the catch all price with no more fees is VERY attractive

I joined ebid a couple of weeks ago to test the water. I advertised a 1gb mp3 player with a screen that plays video. I started the bidding at 99p with £4.99 postage. I didn't get 1 single bid. Noe even selling it at a major loss. Admittedly I don't have any feedback, but i did open an account with pppay and offered the escrow facility. So I think eBid is a waste of time to be honest.

Or maybe, and I am not an auction person by any stretch of the imagination, but just maybe, the 99p and shipping just doesn't work on ebid like it does on ebay.

I know I would stay away because you are telling me it's junk.

Why not try starting with a fair price and see what comes of it?

Ebid is starting to get more and more hits, their are people that have 1000 + sellers feedback on eBid. While I understand this isn't a lot. It will make a difference to that sellers sales.

If you look at the difference, On ebay I have to work on approx 20% to cover fees, on eBid I will pay £49.99 and that IT! This will then mean that I can offer lower prices to my customers, which will bring in the trade.

I also have a specilist area of sales - as in Military that will happily move to the best deals - I have asked them already, and as long as the prices are better they will come across. + they can still pay with paypal.

Yes I could continue selling on eBay, and I more then likely will, but only to drive traffic towards the better deals on eBid.

I think a lot more sellers will leave the drowning ship (HMS EBAY) as and when the bigger companies (PLAY.com!) enter the ebay market place, and they find they can't compete with them.

Where the sellers go, the customers will follow, and eBid is getting stronger every day. You just have to treat it like you treated eBay in the early days.

Just do what other sellers moving across to ebid from ebay are doing to get their feedback count up.They are buying each others item's i say buying loosely don't think they are paying for them just leaving each other feedback.

No fee's to pay you can do this many time's

Put crystalpips35 into ebid they just moved there from ebay look at the feedback and follow the trail there's loads of them at it
