If you mean ebay, then no as we have no control.

If you mean other other avenues then yes. We have many more outlets other than just selling on ebay.

£200K of business a year of sitting on my arse doing nothing on ebay (i wish!) is not to be sniffed at, hence my original comment. Without ebay, it is a big drop in business that I don't fortunately have to rely on, but all the same, it is a not so nice dent in revenue.

obviously you have no control over ebay but thats really my point, people use ebay and think all will be fine and when it goes wrong they dont know where to turn. ok so you have other avenues and that is good, that is what others have to do. No maybe 200k pa is not to be sniffed at from ebay sales, i have no idea as never sold on ebay.

people have to look farther afield then ebay, you rely on one source for your business then you are doomed.

I agree totally. Ebay is doomed and without other outlets you are seriously heading towards a brickwall. This will separate the men from the boys. Any fool can make a few quid on ebay. Once the ebay well has dried up, then that is the test for both budding and experienced entrepreneurs.

a website that has loads of traffic doesnt mean your item automatically sells, as many sellera have been saying ove rthe past year or so, many have been sayign they will go to ebid which as we know doesnt have as much teraffic as ebay and thats my point.
We sell on Fleapit/Amazon/Own sites/Play etc etc and Gen Public

We don't suck up to buyers, we offer customer service like any business, 99.7% of ebay buyers are fine , we sell 1000's items per month.

Above Post/email was posted for fun factor, ebay have dealt with him :-) after simple emal, the trick is to catch these monkeys before they leave a Neg.

Thanks

I made the chap thats been buying up games for us leave a negative for the appalling service we received. We paid extra for DHL so you would assume 48 hours maybe a bit longer but it took him 2 weeks to send it. So he got a negative, we received an email asking Why did you do that? Another no brainer. Service is everything,

MathewLisett & mrsweet - This is an excellent thread with a great debate going on, let's leave the personal insults at the door, its completely unnecessary. (Both your postings have been edited/removed).

Hear you :-)

So has anyone had any joy with ebid? I mean for 50 notes it's worth a whirl.

We are finding Amazon sales increasing, but with this comes many scam emails.

Thing we like regards Amazon is, you get an order and send, all very simple, AZ deal with the payment side, no silly message system and a simple feedback board.

Seems ok so far..

Regards the blackmail on ebay, we had a response from ebay within 15mins! that is fast, and they said we'll deal with it etc... still think we'll get a NEG...

Down to 99.3% now.... on 1500+ sales per month.

I've told them if it drop below 99% we'll close our store, thats 300 notes + sales they lose right of the bat.

Loooking at the stats it's less than .5% of customers who are being a pain, a samll amount but the damage they do is huge.

We send next day
Offer full refunds
Are very fair in all areas

It seems this is still not good enough for ebay

Time will tell and I suspect you are right. Sometimes things happen for the best and sometimes not. I am mainly a bricks and mortar man and was just about to start using the bay to flog certain low profit items that I need to shift in volume to earn a decent discount on other items from one or two of my preferred suppliers but am having 2nd thoughts now - not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle.

BTW, hope you enjoyed your holiday - kinda quiet in here for a while but its good to have you back

Things are getting increasingly difficult in the real world I have noticed. The slow down is here for sure. Ebay is a becoming a dinosaur. THe end of the world is upon us Seriously, everyone I speak to is suffering. From builders to multi millionaires.

I haven't been on here much lately due to a combination of family commitments, deaths (really!) and generally doing some work for a change!

As for the holiday, yes it was great thanks. Nice to spend some quality time with my son, get a bit of son on my back and see some customers. Can't help doing deals though, found some great opportunities. Plus with the slowdown affecting property prices, it would have been rude not to put a couple of silly offers in for another Spanish property Fingers crossed!
