Hi All,

I need some help guys, Ebay has done my head in tonight! I only sell on the .co.uk site and dont want to sell internationally yet!

But some noob with 0 feedback has just won a PS2 with Games off me! Its bloody PAL anyway and its a very heavy package. (was about £10 p&p to UK) Right this person in the US wants to know the total costs? WTF how do I find out how much it will cost to send this PS2 in its original box from the UK to the US?

Bloody anoyed, dont want Bad feedback (100% positive right now) really could do without this at the moment lol!

Anyway, any advice or help is much appreciated!

Kind Regards, Tony.

Weigh the package and measure it too, then use this information to get a quote.

Or you could tell the buyer that you only ship within the United Kingdom and they should have read so before bidding (presumably you stated shipping within the UK only). Refund their purchase in full and re-list, you could even give a second chance offer. This would be the best option in my opinion as there could be problems further along the line with regards to compatibility.

Thanks PT.

The thing is I didnt put 'shipping within the UK only' as I thought it was just Uk anyway being Ebay.co.uk that I use (I will be adding it to all future listings).

Ive sent a message to ebay, just waiting for a reply as I too believe there will be more problems down the road (PAL/NTSC etc).

The US Postal Service has a very good rate chart to the UK. I'd think the reverse would be true as well. The US site is very good about what has restrictions, etc. If anything, I find much of the UK info is even more detailed. That would be my first stop, anyhow.

Just had a second thought. Make the shipping so high that the guy backs off. All the while you can be the good guy, but those shipping companies and their fuel surcharges, well everyone knows how that is these days, etc.

When you list an item on eBay, as I'm sure you are aware, you are asked to select the territories you ship to (by default its set as UK only). So although its best to state it in the listing itself, if you didn't select the US as one of the territories you ship to they shouldn't of purchased the item.

I wouldn't expect a great deal of help from eBay on the matter. Just explain the situation to the customer, they are in the wrong at the end of the day. Refund them in full and go your separate ways.

Something I've done many times. And it always works!

You may also find they won't back off, they'll still feel obliged to pay and it results in a higher profit than normal for yourself. If thats not what you want, explain you're more than happy for them to cancel because of the high shipping charges (basically push them into cancelling!).

That's it, you now have two ways to go about it.

Was it an auction? As it won't be eligable for a second chance offer if it was a fixed price listing.

All you need to know about second chance offers can be found here:

For future auctions, the best way to avoid this is to change shipping settings in your eBay profile so that it won't accept bids (or BINs) from people living in countries you do not ship. Easy cheesy!

Don't know where to find it directly in eBay but if you use Turbo Lister, there's an option to select under "Buyer Requirements".
