A large dropshipper I worked with for years did not want ANYTHING back. The first claim or two I made they wanted back, just to prove I was honest, I guess.
After that I was never asked for anything. I sold lot of fragile items, had damges right along. Japanese dolls in glass cases, Chinese cork sculptures, wooden birdhouses. Never want one back. Just sent a replacement at no cost.
The cork sculptures were so fragile I stopped selling them. Had to send 2 or 3 each time I sold one.
As Greedy says, you have to weigh the variable. No sense "buying back" in shipping a damaged item. Better to send another and forget it.
With my people I'm sure there was no warranty from the manufacturer, they imported it all direct. So any return shipping was just a further loss.
When customers would tell me the item might be fixed, glued, etc. I become a hero by telling them to donate it to their church group, Boy Scouts, etc.
