Default Couple of questions...

I have a misunderstanding with a buyer who made me an offer. The buyer put specific terms in the bid, which seemed like an alternative, and things got mixed up. Bottom line is that we both agree to cancel the auction, but I have already accepted his offer, so how do I cancel it now? I haven't seen any guides on canceling "Best offer" auctions.

I'm also contemplating shipping to Africa. (South Africa) Why do sellers refuse to do business with Africa? I also keep hearing that Italy is a problem, but I have made at least 25 successful transactions to Italy, so are sellers blowing things out of proportion? What precautions should I take while considering this? Would it be a good idea to request a Western Union/Moneygram payment? What are your personal opinions/experiences on this?

Unpaid Item dispute > We have both agreed not to complete the transaction

As for shipping to unconfirmed addresses it depends on the value and the profit margin of the item. If you're making 100% profit on each item you've sent to Italy you've probably made a good choice. If you're making 1% then you're not safe yet!

Year ago Italy was the "Nigeria" of the internet. I think it's much better now.

Africa is still "iffy". I know a guy who was selling there and did quite well. He was selling big and tall men's clothes, mostly "portly" cut. Went along with orders for 3 to 5 suits and shirts, etc. Then got an order for 50 and lost his butt.

Could be they are reeling you in.

Or, I'm sure there are some totally honest people who live there and appreciate someone treating them like real people. It may become a great niche for you. If the card processor will approve the sale, give it a try.

But stay wary.....

The buyer from Africa wants a large order. I checked his history, and seems to buy a lot of stuff related to golf. Still doesn't explain why he wants such a huge order all of the sudden. I'll see if he's interested in paying by western union. My feedback speaks for it self, and I'm sure he understands why a lot of seller don't do business with Africa. I'll wait and see how he responds...

These guys are pros. Be particularly careful if he asks you to bill the shipping to his FedEx or whatever account. Not only does the money bounce, but you end up using a bad shipping account and you end up getting a shipping bill back in your lap a week later.

I have delt with Africa, but only with business customers that I can check out. Be very careful.
