Default From Your Exeperience..

Do you get more sales through ebay / online by lowering your price so much that it beats all your competitors prices or by offering something unique which others don't offer I don't know what this could be maybe a helpline? a different gaurantee etc? I don't have the buying power to by enough of a product to be the best on pricing but I feel I could offer something unique to my customers just wondered your opions.

You don't have to always beat your competitors price, as long as your price isn't too over the top, yet too low for you to make a margin (in the middle) you can still make good sales. Just maintain your feedback and offer your customers fast and efficient service, as well as promoting your items with a good professional listing. Its the way you market and promote your items that can differentiate you from your competitiors.

Reverse it. I don't always look for the lowest price on ebay.

I look for what I want at a good price. The other day I wanted lawn seed. In Homebase it's £6 for a small box and a seller on ebay was selling the same stuff big 2kg bags for £16 or so with lots of the same item and reasonable feedback.

I just went ahead and bought it.

Lowering your price is not the best idea to start in business when you don't have the capital to buy in big quantities. It's called being a busy fool and the phrase is self explanatory I think.

Better to explore the avenue of offering a USP (unique selling point) if you can.

As above, many buyers sub £50 items simply impulse buy, even on larger items as well.

Many years ago I contacted my clients for the month under the guise of a teelphone survey to improve service, asked a few random questions and ended with the question I really wanted an answer too, "How many quotes did you get before buying"

90% of my clients bought from myself on the night with no other quotes, my product at the time, PVCU windows, average order values of £4k.

A good listing answering there points of interest with value for money will sell, no need to be the cheapest, particularly with the new best match search, even the cheapest items with a few minutes to go can end up on page 5 of the search results

It works if you offer faster delivery & a longer guarantee than your competitors.

we offer phone support, 12 month warranty and a VAT receipt with every purchase. Often we are top of the price but with good sales.

It depend on what you're selling. Branded goods you've got to keep up with most everyone, with maybe a wrinkle of your own thrown in.

With "stuff". items that don't have a name brand, make it yours. Don't use the supplier's item code, description, etc. Take your own pictures, maybe group items or sell bundles. I know people who have done the bundle thing on ebay and trippled up. 3 $ 10 items for $ 45.00.

Can't do that with iphones, but sure can with Brand X flower pots and birdhouses.

When I used to sell on eBay, I always made "stuff items" my own, take a military pouch, with no branding, and sell it as a Warrior Webbing pouch, as you start to own the goods, then people come back to you again and again to supply that type of goods.

I have now "left" ebay, and have in the last week, got worst and worst feedback, but what has happened, is I am getting approx 25% more emails per day, from old customers and their friends, asking where they can get my "stuff" from my website of course
