nah i dont think so... coz if oversea sellers post their items on our aussie ebay for example, we will have hard times trying to compete/sell items while ppl from HK, CHINA, US, india, etc sell them heaps cheaper..... due to our high tax and duty rates when importing we will not be able to sell it cheaper than anyone else around the world...... maybe eventually there will be no australian sellers on our ebay.. it will be swamped with overseas sellers.... hence thats why we have oztion.com.au to rule these out....

i just wish that we only compete with local competitors rather internationally, but i guess it cant be helped..

The internet has made a global market, too late to stop it IMO.

I wish google would. They have the money such a powerful base to do so. Googlecheckout is a great rival to paypal, only problem is ebay have banned it.
Ebay are such a greedy bunch of idiots I'd love to take my business elsewhere, but what alternatives do we have? I pray google take on ebay!

Just because someone else opens an auction site regardless of who it is does not mean ebay will be taken down! There are still much investment and a return on that investment required. We are not talking about a few million!

Secondly, if I start an airline with a 100 billion dollars, I am not going to take down the airline industry.

I dont expect ebay to be taken down, just taken on.
Some competition would be nice. Not many could rival ebay at the moment.they are so far ahead of the competition that they can treat their sellers how they like and their greed is bad for the sellers, it costs us.
Googles a powerful company and do things really well. A billion dollars doesnt mean you can wipe out ebay but I am sure you could take a nice slice of the market.

Ebay isn't that bad! OK they are moving the goal posts and increasing fees etc. Service industry business costs tend to increase every year.

At the end of the day imagine ebay was wiped off the face of the earth tomorrow. Where would you list your product instantly in front of millions of people for only a few quid?

As a powerseller who give ebay thousands of pounds every monthly, I am not happy with a majority of the changes. However I have to adapt to the changes or there is a dent in my sales/turnover/profit every month (equivalent to the combined monthly salary earned by 30 people on minimum wage!) without an immediate replacement.

For example I qualify a nice Powerseller discount from ebay providing my DSR's stay at 4.6 or above across the board. My P&P DSR was at 4.3 when the changes were announced. I instantly adapted and as of last night my P&P DSR is now at 4.5. All I need is a 0.1 increase and increase/maintain it and I have a nice bonus.

So what is the effect of my changes (apart from me losing a few quid!)? eBay customers have got a better deal by lower P&P charges (or even free postage). Therefore their changes have achieved what they were set out to do in the first place!

CLEVER EBAY in my opinion and a very good commercial decision for them. You have to admire that.
